I personally have not had any issues with the privi stuff I bought, prefer proper head stamps, and don't get a thrill from forming brass. However I understand and appreciate the fact that some guys enjoy this kinda thing.

Several guys I know use PRVI factory ammo, and it works great with their plain cup and core soft point bullet.

I have not heard of any issues with 9.3X62 brass other than Remington and Hornady either. The new unfired Hornady brass Phil used for the test was not only out of spec, but the case mouths were so badly burred that he could not chamber the ammo after they were loaded. Had to pull the bullets, dump the powder, chamfer the necks, then reload. Then we get to the range, and half do not fire.

All other brands of brass worked fine. Wondering now if Remington makes the Hornady brass?

The Hornady spire point is the exact same bullet marketed as the Remington core-lokt. It wouldn't surprise me if the brass came from the same source as well. I've never had any issues with the few boxes of Remington factory ammo that I've tried, but I've no experience with Hornady stamped brass.

My personal preference is for Lapua, RWS and Norma.

The first night of testing, the 286 gr Hornady ahead of 54 gr of 4064, velocity around 2250, completely came apart in the jugs. All we found was the base of the jacket and a little bit of shank. IIRC it weighed 57 grains. Phil has that information recorded and will be posting it.

Last night from the one Remington factory round that fired, the bullet completely came apart as well, just tiny bits and pieces found, and very poor penetration. It will be a reasonable big game bullet with lung hits, but I would not want to trust it in any bone.

IMOP, privi makes fine factory ammo...... Sure, it's regular old soft point bullets and I am an accubond guy, but 90% of my game was taken with core lokts before I reloaded (or had money for premium stuff for that matter)....

I recovered a couple of my pro is shot from my new to me .375 H&H and would not hesitate to use them on game......
 
Very interested in the woodleigh 320's. Happy to see the average weight woodleighs work well; they shoot great in my .338.

im too but as dumb i can be i just check the coal for the 286 and 320ppsn and of course they didnt feed in my lovely rifle didnt try to load them before the test. anyway after the work on the brass and reload we will know. the rn is very good so far...
 
Well, all ye fine gents, me been absent .... abjectly computerless, for these last months past ... and now, ... am back into this most'est kickass kickass CGN thread here. !!!!. Have learned already from Medvedqc, that my stash of Horn. 286's, are best flung out as "practice" projectiles f:P:2:. The Husqvarna is coming together with 2 stocks, one as a rough bush carry iron sighter, for a nice lightwheight backwoods walking stick. The other stock? ... Be Way too pretty Husky walnut to use it that way ..... a 1 1/2x6 baush and lomb atop. Ted sent me (gratis), a stash of his .40 necked brass, and we are casting some Mountain Mold boolits to get shooting going on the cheap.

Thanks for letting me tag along Ted & Phil - it was a lot of fun. I was pleased to see the 250 TTSX perform so well - though, based on the performance I've seen in other calibers, I was expecting good results for it.

sorry for the bad news on the hornady. you re not the only that have some when they were less expensive ...
 
Excellent work boys! Nothing unexpected save for the poor performance of the Partition? Strange. Most impressed by the Alaskan mushroom and Woodleigh weight retention! That A frame mushroom is just unbeatable though. 250 TTSX impressive. 286 TSX less so. Expect not enough oomph to open that beast up appropriately once much past 200m?

there is some surprises like the matrix and the woodleigh.yes the barnes heavy weight is not for my 9.3 for sure we were close to not load with that charge.

barnes is impressive test after test.

the test is traumatic as we can consider the bullet are hitting concrete ... the poorest design ones are not making it but if like Baribal and Ted told me they were hitting just skin and muscles it can be a different story.

but in the case you have to shoot at close distance and you hit a major bone there is a chance the bullet will looks like the results here ...

again my pleasure for the reader s feedback and of course disccussion.

where is BUM when we need him ....
