You are correct, I read it about 2 months ago and just remember seeing the Modern Magnum is the next project.

I think you guys are mistaken, i specifically asked Rick because i wanted the magnum and was willing to wait but he said the varmit version would be first and then the magnum. He said 3 or so years. But if these regular modern hunters do very well i figure. they will be too busy building them before they switch focus and start another major undertaking like the modern varmit.

Thanks for our first Modern Hunter range report, these are exciting times.
I'd love to see an Modern Hunter -vs- quality AR10 shootout!!!! :)

Yes, I admitted I was wrong and provided Rick's quote from another thread.

Once we have the time after getting the Hunter into full production, the next project in this series will be the Modern Varminter, which if all goes well we should be able to submit a sample to the RCMP in late 2015. Then the Modern Magnum is the next project.
Trying to be realistic here so I would suggest that we may have a Magnum version in about 3 years BEST CASE SCENARIO.
IF the RCMP takes a couple of years to classify each variant, that may drag things on beyond our expectations.

I guess the best answer I can supply is to go with what we know exists and hope that what we want to exist happens in a timely manner.
6 to 12 months is just not a possibility however.

The Magnum will be a much larger undertaking simply due to the fact that absolutely EVERYTHING will all need to be designed and manufactured.
It recently came to light that AI makes an 8 round 338 mag, so that screws us for employing those mags as we had planned to.

Has there ever been a semi platform capable of 1 moa with 7.62x39?
I'm not sure its doable with that round.

The problem is not with 7.62x39. Generally the ammo available is not match quality and the rifles rarley have match barrels. Build a a rifle with a match barrel and hand loads and this will very likely be able to shoot moa. Nobody bothers because it's not a real long range caliber. It's certainly possible though if one wanted a short range moa capable rifle.

I think I want one of these but I'd really prefer something in a coyote calibre. Hopefully won't be too long of a wait for the Modern Varminter.

Pretty sure this comes in .243 which I have found to be an excellent coyote caliber. It's my understanding that most calibers based Off the .308 case should work fine.

That's above KAC SR-25 ER, Les Baer LBC, way above a GAP-10 so I would expect it to exceed the performance of those.

not so sure, its a newly designed NR platform. That's where the price point comes in. I'm not saying it wont be a great shooter, but I doubt itl quite compare to others in the same price range that have been around for a long time.

That's with his options, as you can build to suit your needs, mine came in at 4000 with cerakote, prs, miad, fortis and 18.6"varmint contour stainless barrel

Must have got in before the price increase, mine has 18.6 light contour, ctr stock, 12" fortis, cerakote barrel, ergo ambi grip, and that's about it, small pic rails at 3 and 6 and mine was $4200

To be honest I'd be surprised if it wasn't at least equal. They've been at it for a while and I'd say precision is their focus. They have a great reputation for their bolt guns and they aren't exactly new to DI action rifles.

That Fusion looks promising, a higher magnification scope should greatly help getting sub-moa but a tailored load as well will bring great results.

Did you guys have the AR-10 out as well?

Thanks again for the review. Can't wait to have mine. but im only in the third production round...

Glad you guys had fun, like ezkmo says you'll need to try a higher mag optic & start trying reloads in her, as to me that's not what I'm expecting out of her. Thanks for the range report, looked like a blast and by far a better day then I had. Keep us up to date as the rest of us enviously await ours

it would be nice if you posted some pics from the ar-10 as a comparison ....not much to go on with those groups.
