I think it is time for a proper poll on rifle scopes ...
We can now vote for multiple options in Polls which is great...
I will include the major manufacturers only... I hope I don't miss one... let me know before you vote and I will add them if I miss one:rolleyes:

Leupold simply because pretty good for optics, price and GREAT for service.
Burris, Swarovsky and Nikon are all decent scopes but service is non existant in Canada. I love my Nightforce, great optics but serviced in the US which is a hassle.
Biggredd you missed our Optisan scopes there is no service problem with them either, "its here s your new 1 sorry you had a problem" over the counter replacement

I agree with RR. Those scopes are good value, used, and I'm on a tight budget and I like equipment to be simple and robust.

I use Bushnell and Leupolds. When I want value I use Bushnell, less money and does the job. I like the Leupolds for the reason that when a shot counts it gives you that edge you need.

Damn I can't edit the poll .. I think I topped out at 10 poll options...
Sorry about the omision of the Redfield... and the Optisan scopes have been getting a lot of good press... I have also recently been hearing about the Mueller Scopes as well.
I believe that warranty is a serious consideration with most of the rifle scopes made today.
Not knocking the quality of any of them... but the fact is most are made or assembled off-shore and many have Q/C issues.

I voted "Other", because I hunt with red dots - not scopes. I probably should have voted "Bushnell" as well, since I own several of their scopes plus red dots plus a Holosight.

I voted for Swarovski.

Reason:

Same price or less than Ziess. Can be had in a variety of finishes and sizes. After looking thru a lot of expensive scopes, I have my money on this brand.

My fave is the 3-12x56mm

Once you get into the range of Swarovski, Khales, Zeiss, Schmit&Bender, etc. you know the glass will be good, you look for that little edge, maybe an illuminated recticle option, etc. And eye relief, other than that, most scopes that start at $2000 are pretty decent.

Cheers,

Alex

Leupold...........

I own 5 of these Leupold scopes and never had a serious problem with any of them....... On an old 22 I have a steel weaver K4,that never has been a problem for over 30 years. I also own two burris's one I bought on purpose and one came with gun purchase. Both have been to the factory for repair. In their defence at "Savie" optics in Greeley Colorado, had them back to me in three week turn around time.

I use Leupold scopes on my hunitng rifles...VariX III

Basically, I use them because the optics are very good (but not the best)

They seem dependable

They aren't too heavy.(I use 2.5-8x36 moslty, but also 1.5-5 on my 375 H&H..)

I can afford to put them on my rifles.

Basiclaly, they are the best that I can afford, to put on multiple rifles.:)

I picked Swarovski and Leupold, in that order. I own both right now, and have owned at least one of every brand on the list except Burris and Nikon. I've also owned Redfield. The Swarovski has excellent light transmission and clarity combined with good construction and relatively light weight in the newer aluminum tube versions.

edit: I'd really like to try a new Schmidt & Bender.

Nightforce..... I bad.... there are some good scopes out there that have a niche of their own... Nightforce seems to have a lot of support in the competition circuit.
