The customer service at Stoeger Canada is top drawer..

Well this is a first. I have heard nothing but bad things about them. My friend tried to return a faulty set of Millet rings and you don't even want to know how he was treated. The rings were for a Tikka M595, and to make a long story short, they won't go on straight, they are tilted, ever so slightly that it is barely noticable. Until you take your scope off and see where the edge of the ring dug in. Anyways, my friend is not a newby and is mechanically inclined, but the guy from Stoeger was an a-hole of the highest degree. The funny thing is that he shipped the rings back to my friend BEFORE he even knew what the problem/complaint was (this may have been SIR's fault as my friend shipped it to SIR with a note, and a phone call. SIR then shipped it to Stoeger, and suposedly did not say what was wrong with the rings). How the frick can you send a part back, without knowing what the complaint is, and then say, after the part is long gone, that the customer is an idiot?

I am hoping to see what service ai get out of leupold with the vari x-2 that is appears to be broken...E-mailed korsch in okotoks and am waiting for a reply..This is the first leupold that has given trouble that I have seen and I have seen alot of them..Keeping my fingers crossed for good things.

Leupold for me: price point, quality, reliability, and service. Having Premier able to put just about any reticule you can imagine in a Leopold for you doesn't hurt either.

I can see that the optical quality (while very good) is not up to that of the Euro brands that cost so much more, but that is irrelevant to me. I don't use my scopes to glass - that's what the expensive binos are for. The scope is for making a shot on a game animal in the field, and I doubt I would even notice the superior optical quality of a very expensive scope while making a shot on a game animal.

Besides, I think the Leupolds have a classic scope profile for adding to the appearance of a rifle; the S&B, Swarovski's, etc just look plain ugly to me.

I would suggest that there is more to the story than you heard ... the guys at Stoeger just don't do business that way... any questions at all and the item gets replaced. A set of rings is not worth a ton of bad press.... they would never let that happen...

I was given a Sightron to try out ... no comparison to the Leupolds or the Bushnel Elites... more like a Nikon. I gave it back.

No detail......just a vague and non-informative response.... Which models or lines are you referring to?

Are you now a moderator Joe????
Or are you just trying to start a pissing match?

FYI... It was last year... I get lots of scopes and gadjets to try... If I remember correctly it was an SII 3.5 -10 in a 44 objective... I spent an afternoon looking at the whole line... one of the suppliers really wanted to push them... they don't do well out here.
They have good eye relief but I did not like the reticles they were heavy and looked cheap... the illuminated retical ones were problematic... many did not funtion at all.
The glass was average on the scope I used... but it glared out easily and the side to side aquity was poor. Low light ability was not as good as the Elites or the VXII's.

I have scopes from Redfield, tasco,Bushnell,Simons and they all have given me yoeman service no complaints. But My Lepould is the brightest of the bunch, and the most expensive! You get what you pay for in most cases.

I e-mailed leupold yesterday in okotoks and also sent one to the main website.I recieved 2 replies already!!I guess I will send the scope to okotoks and see what they think.

No on both accounts, but it would appear thats what you have on your mind.;) :D :D Sorry if I've got you feeling that way. I find it is more helpful the more information that is presented. Everyone can benefit from the input and experience out there. Blanket statements really don't add any value and the more detail the better. To bad your experiences were so short and bad. I suspect if they were that bad, they won't be in business as long as they have been. Heck if I did what you did, I wouldn't own a Leupold:eek: Wait do I have any left....

I still need some time to evalute their SIII scope along with a couple of others, but preliminary indications are pretty. Good. I wil say I sent a few back and they were promptly exchanged. Every manufacturer will have some problem at some time...

I hope to provide more detail once I've done some work with them.

So far, customer service is on par with my experiences with Leupold (USA), and Weaver.

You assume a lot... thats OK... I don't need you to respect my opinion.
I gave the Sightrons a good look and compared them to other scopes in the same price range they were comparable but not competitive in this marketplace. I was less impressed with the performance from the bench and in the field.
I have no axe to grind nor do I have a business to promote or anything to sell here... my motivations are chaste.
I assume that you are selling the Sightron scopes and your sig lines promoting your business speak loudly to the esoteric nature of your arguments for and against certain products.
Why do you not deal with Leupold in Canada Joe?
