A statement that needs to be made.

This statement will not sit well with some people, but it needs to be said.

The world has lived through some devastating atrocities. I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say our hearts go out to the families and people that were affected by these heinous crimes.

You will never be able to stop the premeditated evil that some people are capable of. This unhinged individual was very calculated in his attack, it took time and considerable planning to execute. This individual had no remorse for his actions and no regard for life including his own.

It is not the firearms, storage laws or the magazine capacity restrictions that will stop atrocities like this.

As harsh as it is, people like that are broken, they need to be put down, plain and simple.

The world can be a cruel place and unfortunately some people are unable to cope and conform to societies rules.

You will never be able to stop the alcoholic who gets behind the wheel, no different then you can stop people who commit these atrocities when they have no regard for human life.

As much as I wish I had the answer that would fix the problem, I don’t. Although, I can state with great certainty that more firearm legislation will not stop these types of crimes.

The ultimate problem is people.

the only thing that will stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. its time we stand up and fight for the right to carry and defend our self's, buy the time the cops get there its already to late.

...... It is quite reasonable to say that there would've been far fewer deaths had we laws that allow for the use of firearms as a legal means of self defense......
...........If our firearms laws allowed for the legal use of a firearm for at least home defense, there would be a far fewer home invasion robberies and break-ins. ............Your average bad guy will think twice about breaking into someone's home as they would never be able to know for sure whether or not the person on the other side of that door is prepared to defend themselves with use of a firearm........

Thank you, thank you, thank you! for stating this. We should be screaming these statements from the rooftops...in a manner of speaking...well stated!!

I don't agree with probably 90% of the political rants that I've seen here on the forum since I joined. I don't agree with a lot of the comments being made on this thread, either.

I do own guns. I enjoy shooting.

From where I sit, taking the 'from my cold dead hands' approach likely will only strengthen the resolve of those wanting more restrictive fire arm policies. I think public education is the key. Training is the key. Showing the value of gun ownership is the key. Talk to your neighbors. Bring friends to the range. Speak to your MP. Internet outrage and tacky memes aren't going to prevent bad laws from being passed. Grassroots activism might though.

As stated by others, the most dangerous weapon this ####### brandished was the uniform and car of a trusted police force. Nobody in this Country that I know is going to look out their front window, see a RCMP cruiser in the front yard and not answer the front door. We all pull over when we see a RCMP cruiser behind us on the highway. This is the ultimate betrayal of our national trust.

You do that.. you'll be an internet meme before you know it. Guns are fun and all but Canadians aren't ready to turn this country into the wild west like it is south of the border. Home invasion odds in this country are slim to none, but the odds of you shooting your teenage son sneaking back in the house at 3am would become monthly news.

Strict gun control or gun laws will never stop someone that wants to .

Take away the guns and there will always be other means. driving a rental van down the sidewalk is prime example. Or crashing a plane into a building.

There are things that are out of our control . But hurting legal gun owners will not solve anything

Well we have all heard this before and it stands as true as ever:
Ques: How do you stop a bad guy with a gun?
Answ: A good guy with a gun.
Guns are tools that have their place in society, whether turdo likes it or not.
Reminds me of that attempted mass shooting in a small church in the states somewhere (the second one) where the bad guy was mowed down by CC owners right in the church...good guys with guns stopped a bad guy with a gun...

That wasn’t the same church where two church members decided to compare hand guns while the sermon was taking place and there was a discharge now was it ?

Very well said. Thanks for having the words and ability to voice what needed to be said.

Very well spoken indeed IRUN! Things are still very somber and down trodden here in NS the past few days. My heartfelt and deepest condolences go out to all the family members, friends, neighbours who are grieving as they are told how to grieve. God bless you all.

Unimaginable atrocities against all those families, and in these weird times of C19...the human touch and companionship while grieving, which SHOULD be front and center to help with the process, is gone ! For all of them. FOREVER !

Official count now is 22. RCMP said they're no longer counting the shooter as / in with the victims.

Like was previously said...no one can predict when these mental bombs go off...we just have to live with what's left in the aftermath!

Sorry man, if YOU can’t be trusted to keep your carbine and mags locked up, then YOU should give your guns and gear away to someone responsible. Central storage will not work. I trust myself with my guns more than I trust the guys running the range. Give your rights away once and you’ll never get them back.

I TRUST my self just fine thank you. Ive been around firearms my whole life

I don't trust Marty Mcmethead who breaks into my house. Nor do I trust my neighbours, or any one else enough not to constantly be worried that some sack o crap might gain access to my armoury when Im at work for 12 hours un able to check my cameras or answer the alarm.
Also, if police investigated firearm theft more like firearm theft and not "property theft" we as a whole would be in a better position.

Not to mention not all of us own houses that we can build fortified store rooms, and FU if you think that gun ownership is contingent on home ownership. Im not drinking that koolaid any time soon.

I would have to say that the mass demonetizing and deconstruction of our mental health facilities (likely due to the unsupportable strain of "free" health care), has led to a great deal of the problems in our society. The mentally ill and deficient are now wandering our streets, rooting through our cars, shooting our citizens and being members of the liberal party. I'm quite certain that this cumstain of a human had given quite a few people reason to question his mental state, yet there he was, running around buying cop cars.
