A summary of 5.56 / 7.62x39 Black NR Rifle Options and Prices (Dec 2024)

I think Heidi caught on.... Excerpts from her new letter.

3) Complete the ban on assault weapons in the law to include many other guns not covered in the
regulations because of certain criteria unrelated to lethality, like weapons that are of ‟modern design”
or that are not “present in large volumes in the Canadian market”. Some of these include:
 WK180-C: Very recent model that is likely
not yet widespread in Canada. This
“non-restricted” rifle (similar to a
“restricted” AR-15) was the subject of a
feature article in the Globe and Mail
highlighting the tactics of gun
manufacturers aimed at designing assault
weapons so that they escape the stricter
controls for restricted rifles.
 IWI Tavor: “Non-restricted” bullpup assault rifle
made in Canada by a consortium of military
manufacturers to replace the M16 and M4 used by
the Israeli army.3
 SKS: Weapon designed toward the end of the Second World War and still used in war today.
According to a dealer quoted in a feature article on the subject in La Presse, “it’s the prototype of
the AK-47, it’s the same gun.” This “nonrestricted” firearm in Canada is associated
with serious public safety issues. It is
relatively inexpensive and available online
starting at around $200. This is the model
for both guns used by Bryer Schmegelsky
and Kam McLeod to kill two tourists last summer in British Columbia (one of them legally
obtained by one of the killers a few days prior). It is also the weapon that was used to kill
Constable John Davidson in Abbotsford in 2017 by a gun owner whose license had expired, and
the gun legally acquired by Afghan War Veteran Lionel Desmond just hours before murdering his
wife, daughter and mother in Nova Scotia that same year.
 Derya MK12: “Non-restricted” assault weapon in
Canada that was recently introduced onto the
Canadian market (summer 2017). According to
firearms enthusiasts, it resembles the AR-15. This
weapon was just recently involved in a
confrontation in Alberta, where a man fired shots
from his residence, seriously injuring a woman
inside her neighbouring home. This was followed by
a car chase that ended in a shootout with the police that left the man dead. A police officer was
shot during the confrontation.
 Norinco Type 97: A “non-restricted” semi-automatic
version of the standard assault weapon used by the
Chinese military. It is the model that Toronto Police
Chief used while lauding the ban announced on
May 1 as an example of “military assault style
weapons” that “endanger families and
communities.”

They will just ask Murrey Smith for a new ban list. like he did with FRT bans after OiC ban. Smith is absolutely immoral individual but he has the knoweledge of all firemars approved by the lab in the last 30 years.

Besides this, Libs will keep "cutting off cat's tail piece by piece" whenever they need a diversion from a corruption scandal or ramp up a pre-election rhetoric.

We all knew since C-68 and Alan Rock that LPC will eventually ban all firearms.

Didn't stop us then. So if people what to buy endangered semis and enjoy them for a couple of years why not?

The Liberals left those guns out for a reason... obviously Bill Blah knew of there existence before OIC. My guess is the Liberals thought theyd try walking the fence between complete New Zealand class ban and "just enough to win votes and still look like their achieving something".

The Liberals path to a gun free Canada is to do so by smaller steps until all firearms are banned in Canada . Ban some here , ban a few more there , until ONLY the police and military have guns in Canada .

I’m convinced they didn’t just "forget some models"

Scenario A: they knew it and decided to go incremental. By banning some, it won’t cause much rattle because people will buy whatever is left at any prices (600$ SKS, 1800$ T81, Tavors flying off the shelves). Bonus: extra tax revenues from those sales and some kind of recoverable record of sale given the proper warrant being produced.

Scenario B: they knew it and simply decided the May 1st blow was enough to make the professional victims happy and enough to piss us off and make the weaker quit on the same day. This scenario is also a win for them.

Scenario C: they "forgot" about the rest and are just waiting for the turd mandate (intentional) to just sweep everything under the ban rug in the name of public safety and respect for the victims. They probably realized it was a bite to big to chew, so they decided to cut this grade A bologna steak in pieces instead of choking on the entire piece.

ISKS: Weapon designed toward the end of the Second World War and still used in war today.

Wait...what?
Where do I get an SKS for $200 these days?
Is someone having a blowout sale?
If that is the case, I will take at least 5.

Any members whom are aware of this $200 SKS sale, please do share.
Maybe Haidi could provide some extra details on this, being that this letter seems pretty recent?

Da da da daaaaaaa, my 1000th post and also the August update is now in position, a few new rifles have come to market.

Fun fact, in circa one month there will be more Canadian AR180 rifles in circulation than original AR18 & AR180 rifles ever made (over 20,000)

Congrats on your 1000 post. And thanks for this compilation and the time you take in doing it I enjoy reading it thoroughly each time you post it.

Thanks, your feedback really means a lot as often I post it and have no idea if it is simply being ignored. I do try to keep the top text as the quick read section so people don't have to slog through the whole thing.

Last night I got excited about the CPC winning the election and looked at my old thread, there's so much I'd have to add to this one haha

I think many of us appreciate the efforts you made on your own initiative to keep everyone informed. This thread should be a sticky, as there are a fair amount of people who join CGN and ask questions about availability of guns since the OIC or ask what is the difference between (insert model here) and (insert model here). For those of us who are black rifle enthusiasts, your compilation is very helpful and provides some good context on retail availability, whether it is existing or new makes/models and their associated features. It is a good time saver for sure.

Thank you, that is good to know. I like to think that this list has increased the number of Black NRs sold.

While stickys can be good there are currently 14 in the Black & Green section and I worry that the thread would get lost amongst "how to lube an AR15" and other such stickys.
