ACR Media and Info Thread

for me it is not much of an issue because I intend to convert to another calliber and I doubt I will be switching it back often or at all to tell the truth.

I suspect most people will buy this rifle on the sole basis of caliber conversion and the 223 will see very little use.

Then why are you waiting for the non restricted version? Just for the stock?
You could buy a used one now and pay $2100-$2200 and not care how many rounds it has through it since it's getting a new barrel anyway. Then buy a non restricted length barrel and have it verified and reclassified.
Be into it for around $3000 (maybe less depending how much you get your 450B kit for) then maybe sell the factory barrel for a couple hundred. May as well sell it since once it's reclassified it will be illegal to swap it back in anyway and you will also probably steal the gas system off it for your new barrel. It doesn't take long to swap gas systems but I doubt anyone is going to want to do it often.

I doubt we will see factory conversion kits till 2015 at the earliest.
I'm looking to source a 30 cal 1:8 twist barrel and have it cut, profiled, and chambered for my NR 300blk kit. Need to figure out gas port position and size though.

I'm going to have 3 non restricted kits for mine and each will get use :)

I don't want to purchase a restricted: especially a private sale, transfers are taking too long (3 plus months for me and friends/range acquaintances) to take a chance buying anything that isn't local. Used prices are too high IMO, 1800 or less and I will buy, know of a couple that went that cheap but friends snapped them up.

Just have to wait and see, No 450 kit available yet so not in a rush.

I would have loved to find a deal for $1800 when I bought mine.

You just need an Alberta address, our transfers are done in 24-36 hours usually. I can't figure out why the CFO's in the other provinces take so long.

My transfer of my AR to the guy on Van Island took less than 2 weeks.
Maybe you should try again when you see one of those $1800 deals.

This thread is making the wait till summer extremely hard! I can't wait to get my dmr, change the stock to the enhanced stock and get the extended hand guard as well

Took her out to the range, was -20 but -30 with windchill. 100 rounds of Norc white box was flawless! 80 rounds of Norc yellow box had maybe 6 FTF, all had primer strikes on them, but that has happened with my past rifles, Tavor, Swiss, Armalite... all from this same ammo crate.

Thinking of having it converted to NR, but haven't decided where to go for the barrel. I'm leaning towards Herron Arms, but tempted by the price of Dlask, or maybe waiting for Bushmaster... Either way it is a beauty!! Ergonomics are awesome and I should weigh the rifle because it felt surprisingly light? Maybe I'm used to heavier guns.

I would like to one day do a full picture/video review, maybe when it's warmer.

So let me get this straight, you're going to wait till summer for a maybe they show up? Bushmaster has been promising caliber conversions since 2011 so I wouldn't hold your breath.
Then you're going to spend even more money to turn it into the model that is already available but with an 18.5 inch barrel?

You realize that you can pick up a used one for around $2000 then swap the barrel for around $500-$1000 depending which way you want to go and pretty much any aftermarket barrel will be more accurate than a Bushmaster barrel. Not that the bushmaster barrel won't shoot but chances are an aftermarket barrel is going to shoot better, especially a Herron barrel.

Of course you're free to take whichever route you want to but that doesn't make any sense to me.

I don't have my rpal yet :( I'm taking the coarse in march so by the time I get it the acr could possibly be here. (Probably not, knowing bushmaster we will be lucky to have them before christmas) I would much rather do what you did. Your set up is awesome! I'm also keeping an eye out for one already converted on the EE.

Hey Everyone,

I wanted to share a few pictures of my newly acquired NR ACR.

The barrel was done by Herron Arms and is a Krieger 1/9" Twist. The Optics are an EOTech XPS 2-0 and G23 FTS Magnifyer. Also has the Geissele Super ACR Trigger.

Let me know what you think!

Beautiful rifle.

For what it's worth, At shot the bushmaster guys were telling everyone to expect the DMR rifles to ship soon.

Bushmaster has also been telling people that the 6.8 conversion kits were coming out "soon" since late 2011.
I hope this time they deliver on something they say.
I think this rifle will really take off in popularity with a little support from the factory. Modular rifle with multi-cal doesn't mean much if they don't put out any parts.

I like this ACR thread!

Me to.
Hoping it becomes a sticky.
SC, I'm off the 29th-11th, are we going to the range one of those days? Dual ACR's with some fresh pics of the rifles and some targets with lots of holes :D
Anyone else wanna try to line up a day at the range? No weekends though, I don't like crowds. You don't need to own an ACR to come ;)
