Haven't had any stoppages since taking off my brass deflector so that's staying off...happy me, so the gun is getting some new glass in short order.

anyone's ACR's charging handle really banging up their upper receiver?
I thought it would stop at some point but looks like its getting worse and worse.
As you can see in this first picture, compare the left and right sides, the right side looks like its been pushed up quite a bit.

It is not normal provided your charging handle is not reciprocating while firing as intended by manufacturer.

This is a documented issue on ACR forum

https://www.acrforum.com/threads/reciprocating-charging-handle.482/

Not really any different than AR T handles becoming all scuffed and the retention latch marring the upper, or AK's safeties wearing the finish off the reciever, or any of the 540 and 550 series beating itself up with brass...

All these examples were initially designed as a practical rifle for professional users where it would see far worse than a few small cosmetic blemishes.

He never said it was reciprocating.
never said he checked, easy for it to happen even every now and then without noticing.

I have had multiple acr's and only time damage like that has taken place was from the handle reciprocating during live fire.

Think of it this way, if the handle doesn't reciprocate, it is like there is no handle there to do damage other than when manually charging the rifle.

Can mill that groove slightly deeper and have the receiver re ceracoated to be like new again if it bothers you.

Imagine sitting on the sidelines complaining while people enjoy beating up their 3k rifles

Don't feel so offended Karen. I had my fair share of ACRs in the past.

That being said, I can see the OP not enjoying it so much from my sideline.

I dont think its happening, but I've not looked for it, so I guess it could be.
I thought the damage was from charging the rifle.

Who's had an ACR charging handle reciprocate? That's obviously a failure or user error if it happens. Thousands of rounds, never seen a handle reciprocate, thankfully. The damage comes from racking and releasing. It's fine. If your handle reciprocated under fire something is wrong.

Hello all, a question about the ACR barrel. I currently have a 18.6 inch heavy barrel from an ACR DMR. Is there a Canadian company that rebarrel or some other company I can contact to get a lighter barrel? I want to convert my ACR DMR into more of a two-gun rifle.

I have and posted a link earlier to how this is a documented problem discussed on acr forum
