ACR Media and Info Thread

I did the fernilab parts too. Because the Super ACR trigger won’t work in it with the fernilab drum I put a SSA-E in, and then on a lark put the Super ACR in the gun the SSA-E came out of, and it worked. Templar trigger guard, and I’m gonna put a B5 systems grip on it when I have a spare to swap around.

Coincidentally I left my Super ACR in it (though I had a SSA handy in case) and it worked fine.

I recently picked up the Non QD Aluminum Trunnion from the Red Deer Shooting Center and must say that I am quite impressed! I took my ACR for a spin today with the new Trunnion installed and printed MOA-sized 5-round groups at 100m with Aguilla 55 gr Bulk Ball and .7 MOA with 69 gr Federal Gold Medal Match. Not too shabby! The Barrel is much more rigid in the Trunnion and the results speak for themselves! I look forward to obtaining additional Barrel Nuts from Templar Precision so that I can outfit my 10" 5.56mm Barrel, the 16" 5.56mm Factory Barrel and a 16" .300 Blk Barrel, thereby restoring switch-barrel capability to my ACR based on the new Trunnion and Barrel Nut system.

Installation was fairly straight forward, although I will warn everyone that the Trunnion Bolts are Loc-Tited and require heat to avoid stripping the sockets. I stripped one bolt and had to drill out the Bolt-head in order to get the Factory QD Trunnion out of my Upper Receiver, but no real drama ensued. I obtained identical, new replacement Bolts (Black phosphated) at Edmonton Nut and Bolt for pennies apiece. If anyone needs one, let me know and I can help you out. Once the old Trunnion was out of the Upper Receiver, installation of the new Trunnion was a snap that took no time at all. Installation of a Barrel into the new Trunnion is straigtforward and will be familiar to anyone who has installed or removed an AR15 Barrel. The Muzzle Device, Gas Block and Piston Guide must be removed from the Barrel in order to install the new steel Barrel Nut, which can be a chore. The good news is that the Taper pins securing the Gas Block to the Barrel are fairly easy to tap out of the Gas Block, just be sure to tap them out in the correct direction (small side to large side)! Once the Barrel Nut is installed, the Barrel installation on the rifle itself is a quick and simple undertaking. Future Barrel Swaps will be a breeze, not taking much longer than the factory Quick-Change System used to take, but with a much more secure and effective result. No more soda-tin "shims" to center-up the Ratchet Handle, and no more constant tightening of the Barrel every time accuracy goes to crap!!

I assess the Templar Precision Non-QD Trunnion to be an outstanding upgrade for the ACR that works exactly as intended. Not cheap at $480, but if like me you are interested in wringing maximum accuracy from your ACR, it is a must-have!

No, they haven't been produced for years. Franklin Armory is talking about putting it back into production, but it's going to be a somewhat revised design I think.
 
at over 3.5k rounds now and wondering if this is now concerning rather than just cosmetic:

The first pic shows the material has been pushed up by about 2mm. The 2nd pic shows where the charging handle goes to when i release it after pulling it back. The last pic shows where the handle can go to if i manually push it forward with my hand.
The gap between the receiver and the charging handle in the 2nd pic is about 4mm

The gun itself does not experience any issues when running, but sometimes when I want to pull the charging handle back, its completely locked up and would not move. I think this is due to the hook on the charging handle assembly grabing onto the slot infront of the charging handle(hook can be clearly seen in the slot in last pic, under front screw of modbutton). When I experience this, I push the charging handle forward or just wiggle it a bit and I can then pull it back again.

Picked up a DMR stock from a good neighbour, gave it a whirl today. Only adds 2lb but it's right at the rear so you notice the balance shift.

I'll stick to the collapsible unless I'm sitting at a bench the whole time.
 
The only info I can find is from 2014, so no idea if it's still relevant or not. Almost worth the gamble to see if it comes through.

I took a shot with Ferni Lab and they ended up being an absolute pleasure to deal with.
 
ACR bolt is marked with "Multi Cal". what type of rounds it will take pair with the appropriate barrels? Sorry for the noob question. New ACR owner here.

The multi-cal part never really shook out.

The bolt carrier is universal to all the calibers that ever came out for it.

The bolt itself can do anything based on the .223rem/5.56 case head. The other conversion from the factory were .300blk and .450 bushmaster.

The only other factory conversion was 6.8SPC which also required a new bolt to fit the large case head.

RDSC has some of their stuff in stock and can probably order anything they dont usually carry from templar.

They also had the .450 bushmaster kits but i'm not sure if theres any old stock anymore since Remington went bankrupt a few years back.
