Finally took a couple pics with the new barrel. Can't wait to get out and try it out. Put my Rainier Arms mini comp on for now.

I posted this pic in another thread but this is my ACR, and my brother's. Mine's a 1:8 twist with .223 wylde chamber, with a leupold mark 4 3-9x36 TMR. Love it for varmints. My brother's is a 1:7 twist 5.56 chamber with a Leupy mark 4 as well. I've also got a geissele trigger in mine.

The Specter almost looks out of place on it. Maybe it's the mix of the folding stock. Anyways. Let us know how it shoots

I also have the fixed stock, not sure if I will ever use it but I might give it a try one day.
Haven't decided what it's going to wear permanently yet, I've got a Burris Fullfield 2-7x35 with E1 reticle in a Burris PEPR QD mount which might go on it. Depends how it shoots I guess, If it's really accurate I may want the 2-7 on it so I can take advantage of a little more magnification.
It should shoot well, it's one of Ian's barrels and he uses good blanks.
I may also swap to my Allen Gunworks Linear comp for field use to help keep it quieter on my ears when varmint and predator hunting.

Questar has processed my order for the 6.8SPC barrel, I'm pretty excited to try that out as well. Waiting for my new .223 bolt so I can have it opened up and My buddy might be dropping off the 6.8 mags tomorrow.
I love it when a plan comes together :ar15:

I prefer the fixed stock on mine for some reason. Give'em both a try. If yours turns out to be as accurate as mine, you'll want more magnification than the specter.

Are you still going with 1:8 wylde?

I can't remember which chamber he said this barrel has but it's a 1:8.
I hope to keep it light so I doubt it will get any more than the 2-7 other than maybe during load development. Maybe steal the 4-12 off the HK once I settle on a load for it.

Anyone know of anyone other than Dean Fraser at Pistolsmith that can do verification to have mine made non restricted?
His message said he's back from Christmas break in a few more days.

Would be a lot more interesting if Bushmaster sold a semi auto version of Remington's MIL/LE ACR.

Why?
Other than the magnesium lower and a different handguard is there any difference?
You realize it probably costs close to double what a polymer one costs right?
Or would you just prefer to see Remington on the side instead of Bushmaster?
For me I'm just happy we can have a better option than what else is currently available. I now have mine ready to be reclassified to non restricted and after selling the restricted barrel I'm into it for $2600. I'll be into it for $3150 once I get the rest of what is needed for my 6.8spc non restricted kit and once I get a 300 blackout kit finished I'll be selling the 6.8 parts.
I already like this better than my Swiss that I sold and I haven't even shot it yet :) I will be remedying that situation this week :D

So I decided that since I would be doing accuracy testing and load development I followed ThrottleMonkey's advice and put the Burris 2-7 on it.
The Specter DR may go back on later but for now this makes more sense.

It has long eye relief, I started a lot closer to the BUS but had to keep moving it out.

Got an email from Canada post this afternoon, Qusetar has shipped the 6.8SPC barrel :D
Got the mags from my buddy yesterday. Just need the bolt now.

As far as I know, they both come from the same factory and are both bushmaster quality. I prefer the remington model because they shaved at least a pound off the busmaster gun by removing all the useless widgets and gadgets.

Mine didn't come with widgets or gadgets ;)
What did they remove?
I though it was just the magnesium lower and the happy switch. I'm going to do some research today.

edit,
Looked around and it sounds like it has an aluminum lower not the magnesium I thought I heard it had.
Sounds like very few differences between them other than the different handguard and the happy switch.

The aluminum lower and better hand guard would be a big upgrade on their own if they fit tighter.
There's a ton of slop in these rifles, upper/lower fitment, stock/reciever, and forearm/reciever.
It just feels like a low buck dpms, not something in this price range. Especially noticeable after owning higher end ar's, it just doesn't feel solid when transitioning targets quickly.

I'm not sure where you got yours but my NR ACR is tight in all the tolerances you mentioned. Even my PTS extended handguard locks up tight

Baloney, every one I've handled has the same wiggle in the folder and upper/lower fit.
Have you ever had a higher end ar ? They're solid feeling, the acr has a few little wiggles to it.

No folder here. And I've never noticed play in the upper. But much like an AR even if there is wiggle how accurate is your rifle? Wiggle doesn't mean inaccuracy

I don't mind a little wiggle between the upper and lower. It doesn't affect accuracy and to me it doesn't make the rifle feel cheap. It is just the design of the rifle and what makes it modular like an AR. If they made it too tight then you wouldn't be able to swap uppers and it would cost more because they would need to be fitted before leaving the factory. I have both the folding and fixed stock and while the fixed is tighter I still have the folder on mine.
I've had AR's with some wiggle and my current ones are nice and tight. Makes no difference to me.

YMMV
