Please don't sell this type of hunting as a benefit to the unwashed villagers and a service because these elephants had no kind of life to begin with. Lets call a spade a spade, this is wealthy thrill seekers standing down an almost certain death charge and living to tell the story about it back home over scotch and fine cigars. I am sorry but this type of hunting has more to do with the hunter than it does hunting down rogues or protecting farms. I am not against trophy hunting, but this looks like deliberately putting yourself in a life or death situation, killing your aggressor and then patting yourself on the back for your heroics. This video also makes you wonder how many non-deliberate self defense kills these guys have to make, after they drop the intended target. Sorry I don't get it, I would never look to put myself in harms way just to feel like a hero after my big shot. Cheers,
Patrick
Be glad there are wealthy thrill seekers just as there are blue collar thrill seekers. If all the wealthy people in the world had the same outlook as George Soros, there would be little for the rest of us to do because anything worth doing would be illegal. Elephants have been Bambized more than any other. Polar bears come in second. As for not putting yourself in danger, your life is diminished as a result. You haven't lived if you have always lived without risk. When you are in peril and have survived, the grass is greener and the sky is bluer. That of course is a personal choice and one the African native doesn't have. He would be just as happy if all the elephants, big cats, buffalo, and hippo were dead. Unless he can be shown that there is value in the continued existence of these animals they are doomed, because the African is an efficient killer of game, and they existence is at his peril.
If the hunting community cannot learn to support one another's activities; those of the George Soros, Peta, Green Peace, ilk will win, and you won't be hunting deer, varminting, or fishing, or even going to view wildlife because parks will be closed to human visitors. This is not to say that everyone should indulge in these activities, but we should not actively support the other side because we don't participate in one activity or another.

Patrick- Other than watching these videos, what do you know of African hunting?
I was not commenting on African hunting, I was commenting on the videos posted in this thread.
Patrick
Aren't the videos in the thread, hunting in Africa?
So my moose hunt last fall was hunting in North America, does it typify the North American experience? Of course this was in Africa, but it no more represents all hunting in Africa than my previous example does of this continent.
I have watched the BUZZ Charlton video and it is EXELENT
