Cleaned it up, it is for sure a crack, BUT I have a couple other type 81s and they all seem to have this faint almost circle like lapping in that exact area, but my under folder is the only one that shows a actual crack, so I’m Wondering if maybe just where they did this “lapping” is where it lifted, I’m hoping I don’t have to send it back as this one is nice and straight. It could be possible the actual trunnion is not cracked just that lapped area, hopeful thinking.

If you shine a light in that area you will likely see what I’m talking about, if it’s covered in carbon might be difficult to see.

I did send photos to Tactical imports to see what they think.

Just took a look in my underfolder and its has a faint circle in that location no cracks

Yeah all 3 of mine under folder, fixed stock and side folder all have that circle it’s just the under folder decided to lift up / crack in that area, so I’m hoping maybe it’s not compromising the structure at all and can just be used.

Review t81m uf

Here is my short and concise product review of the t81m underfolder.

-received a very nice underfolder. straight in every aspect. slight 1/4" "wobble" when fully open or closed, no side to side wobble... when open and shouldered the rifle does not wobble at all.
-watched utube and read some stuff about "Russian AK47 zero" , and wanted to see this method is applicable
-took it to some private property this weekend to test and enjoy

The information I have been digesting, ala utube, says that the russian method is to set a black rectangle (25cm wide X 35cm tall) on a white backboard at a distance of 100m/109yd.
You are to set your sight at 300m on the rifle, and POA = bottom "line" of the black rectangle (where black meets white on the backer) and aim dead centre of that line.
Using commonly available surplus corrosive ammo, the russian method says you should see point of impact 6-7" above the POA , approx in the dead centre of the black rectangle.

When you get your grouping in the centre of the black rectangle (sights @ 300m , shooting from 100m, aiming for bottom centre line) , then you should have it zero'd perfectly for 50/100m.
User to confirm at 50m and 100m, should hit bullseyes @ 50m or 100m , sights set to 100m .

Here are the results after slightly screwing down the front site post, approx 2 full turns (according to sources, one full turn down raises POI approx 8" up) ...

Disregarding the flier, and going with my friend who shot his 5, the rifle seems to be confirmed at 5-6 moa, with corrosive chinese surplus, which is to be expected and is satisfactory for this platform.
Unfortunately I didn't have any splatterburst paper targets to shoot. I definitely look forward to seeing what the rifle is capable of when fully dialed in.
We shot about 300 rounds, some slow, some as fast at possible and report ZERO MALFUNCTIONS. Not one issue. It goes bang. EVERY. TIME.

Thanks TI for making these available to us! BIG UP!

you got no choice, send it in. cheaper to replace then fix.

I'm on the same page and a half-step ahead of you.
So what's next? T81K - Krink?? :d
THIS or triangle folding stock
I'd buy 2 if they was the case lol one to usee and one to collect and keep minty
:agree: A Krink??? That would be irresistible indeed!!! w:h:

I stole that from a Texas shop's website. They use an 8" barrel with extension but we could either see one with faux suppressor or my crappy ms paint edit of another shops' rifle:

obviously scaled up a bit to fire x39

I missed out including the slant compensator with my T81 order because I thought there would be an aftermarket for the M16x1 thread...
Do you think local retailers will stock these at some point or is my only option now to order again from Tactical Imports and pay separate shipping for this little piece of metal?

Do you have any machinist friends? That's my plan for a muzzle brake, same as I've done in the past for other projects.

We NEED this version NOW Tactical Imports

Great so in addition to bent barrels, bents stocks, wobbly stocks, stocks that break, and missing mag releases you also have to worry about LITERALLY unsafe rifles with cracked trunnions.... can't wait to see how TI tries to spin that one as "in spec"

They'll most likely replace it under warranty since its obviously a defect

TI are a good company.

Glad to see so many getting one of these and supporting TI bringing in these to the restrictive small Canadian market as opposed to being one of those left behind who secretly wish they had bought one.

I would also pre-order if possible.

I'll keep holding onto my coin until the right model comes out. Once this one inevitably becomes no longer available they'll have another and maybe we'll get lucky for a small run.

I would LOVE this package

Doesn't matter what you do to a type 81, it will never be as ###y as an AK

why muzzle brake? TI still got them and Kodiak sells them too but what do you think about this idea? a machinist thread over the 14mm compensator TI has on sale for $9?

I guess I just enjoy machining/designing my own parts vs. waiting a month and paying for shipping. To each your own I guess.
