Anodizing

I think your pics make the contrast look worse than it is. My upper and lower are probably the same batch as yours and while there is a noticeable difference between the two, I've seen far worse come from Colt or others.

Mine will be painted with a spray can...to improve its effectiveness in the bush.

Pure and simple, if you aren't happy with it send it back. If you aren't going to send it back, then shoot it. If I didn't like the finish it would have gone back in the box immediately.

If I knew there was a replacement set immediately available, that is the easy solution.

Then you've answered your own question, you sell it or you shoot it. If you dink with the finish yourself then you're stuck with it. We send stuff for anodizing every week. You can't just drop it back in the tank. To fix it they will have to strip off the old anodizing and start again. They should have sent it back to the anodizor as soon as they saw it. That speaks volumes about their qc. As far as I'm concerned you have a factory second. Anodizing turnaround is generally less than a week.

Send it back or keep it.
There isn't anything you can do to change the colour apart from having it ceracoated or some such. Do that and sending it back is no longer an option.

Do you want this thread moved to the manufacturer's forum, to bring it to their attention?

I purchased through RDSC, they do not have any replacement sets (confirmed last night), so instead of sending it back and waiting an unknown amount of time for a fix, I have ordered an upper from the next batch to see if it matches my lower. Worst case I sell it to someone who doesn't care about color at that time to recover cost.

Might as well delete my post asking for help.

Easily twice that with optic

Ya, the money adds up quick. Not even including various shipping charges or taxes my cheapest build so far was $2100 and it's just the A2 build, no optic. My most expensive so far was $5400 with a bsf barrel, titanium bcg, jp scs, Trigger Tech trigger, Leupold VX-6HD optic etc...

When you spend good money like this you want things to be right.

Have you heard anything back from RDSC or ATRS yet?

I would be amazed if both have not been contacted. Most likely on holidays during this time of year so comms may not be as instant as brian desired.
I would be ABSOLUTELY stunned if both RDSC and ATRS did not offer a multitude of solutions. Both are stand up companies who back their sales with service that is outstanding. I have dealt with both companies for years and they both have always done everything possible to solve any problems.
My suspicion is that neither company has an instant replacement. brian is repeatedly expressed on the forum his disdain for any sort of pre-orders so more than likely fluked out getting a cancellation.
Stripping ad re-anodizing will alter tolerances slightly so pin holes could be lose if stripped and re-anodized.

My best advice is to wait until after the New Year and everyone is back to work and see what they will do. Understand though that given the tremendous backlog it may not be as instant as you want it to be. ATRS is a firearms manufacturer, not a band of magicians who can conjure up a replacement in an instant.

The colours are meant to be different, it is a trend started by FN SCAR.

Matching colour is so pedestrian!

I got to fiddle with a G28 in person, I thought it looked horrible in photos with the mis-matched colouring, but damn on person they look good.

Who is crying? I simply want what others received at the same price point.

Would you accept paying full price and being stuck with a receiver set with a "cosmetic issue" as you say?

Uhh, yes. It’s a limitation of anodizing. The only way to get as close a match as possible would be to anodize them in the same batch and even then there is no guarantee.

I’ll take mismatched anodizing any day over matching non anodized set (cerakote, etc..). There is nothing wrong with either the upper or lower, what is it that you expect them to do?

We do a lot of anodizing. Aluminum can be funny. Even the same type of Aluminum from different lots can come up different. Even the proximity to each other in the tank or how crowded the tank is can have an impact

Sorry pal, no one wants to hear the realities of anodizing in this thread. Pointless complaining only.

For all the people saying it is no big deal, it's perfectly fine, etc.

I will gladly take your matching receiver set in trade for mine since you don't care to have a consistent texture and color match between your upper and lower.

You can have mine but I don't think you would like it since it has been used hard for a season of 3gun and has spent many days riding in the back seat of my truck. I have another set that I haven't seen yet, if it matches you can swap with me, I honestly could't care less about the slight difference in color of your set. These are receivers for sporting rifles, not some kind of hand crafted pistol or collectible.

Let me know when you get the new set, I won't be trading new for used.
