Anschutz Disappointment

What setting do you have for torquing the action screws. Try loosing off the action screws retorque starting at 25 in/lbs. fire 3-5 5 shot groups. Increase the torque by 2 in/lbs repeat and so on until you hit a MAX of 35 in/lbs, pick the best group of the test . The Anschutz 54 action is only rated to a max of 35 in/lbs for the action screws. Try different ammo. I have the 1712 it likes SK match and long range, Lapua midis plus. The mag you will have to tinker with. The ejection of spent round you can fix by very light file of the outer extractor. See Rimfire central they have a how to do on their site.

Getting back to the original post it would make sense to keep sending it back to the supplier until the issue is resolved and they should be sending you mailers so it is no cost to you.

This is very good advice. If the rifle doesn't work as it should after the dealer has looked at it, discuss the problem with him and arrange for it to be sent back. It's in the dealer's interest to get things right.

Totally agree with both these comments and pleased to see this back on track. It certainly is in the supplier's best interests to sort this - After all, it is a simple fix. Failing that, perhaps one of the experts who has contributed to this thread could offer to get the OP's rifle functioning as it should!

Yeah I'd send it back. I regularly shoot with 64s, 54, and other models. None of us need to work the bolt for them to eject. Often a gentle pull. My 64 is like there is no round in the chamber to eject.

The original seller did take the rifle back, no questions asked. I was very satisfied with the result. Honesty and integrity was totally shown. Thank you.

Theyre well known for a reason. Theyre a standup business and take care of their clients/customers. Had a few dealings and have had great service and results!

I purchased a CZ Varmint MTR .22 LR a little while ago and added a few things to it. I was quite pleased with the results. I figured as I was getting on, I would treat myself to an Anschutz, before my dirt nap. I chose a 1710 Competition with the 5119 trigger and 20 inch stainless barrel and MDT ACC chassis. It seems to shoot well, but not too much if at all better than the CZ. My big disappointment comes with the FTEs stacking up and some jams on loading and the magazine has its problems also. I've shot about 4 bricks out of the CZ and did not have one faulty operation everything was smooth and slick. After 80 shots in the Anschutz I've had at least a dozen FTEs, 4 bullets jam upon entry and believe it or not a cartridge reverse direction in the magazine causing a mag jam.
If I get aggressive and deliberate the Anschutz will eject, but not impressively. Loading has to be slow and cautious. What a joke for a $3700 firearm. I can't see why there is such a big fuss and fan base for this firearm.

Seems like you're not alone.
