Any interest? Savage "Bush Carbine"

Go with the Stevens 18.5 it's the best compromise for an inexpensive bush gun. The muzzle blast on 18.5 would be significant but it would retain most of the velocity and accuracy.
I would be in for one.

Stevens 16" but would be okay with 18.5.

I have made several Stevens with 18.5 barrels for my daughter, including a 308, and have several Ruger compacts/frontiers with the 16" incl. a 300wsm.

MUZZLE BLAST IS A NON ISSUE. If we're going for a bush/trunk/truck gun, 16" is all we need.

Brush Gun

OK ...I'd go with the Stevens in 308 ...whatever the majority rules with barrel length (16-18 )... sights ? ...ehhh...majority rule ...I'd be in!

I don't mind the iron sights, but can a scope be mounted with the rear sight where it is.

X2 on the 14" .223.

It's pretty easy to chop a longer barrel down to 18.5 or 20" if that's what a guy wants....much harder to chop one down to 16".

16" custom order would be unique for sure.
Can they make a a shorter stock for it as well?
Drilled for and including a scout rail would be a nice option to go with a peep on the rear..

The steven's 200 stock.

I'd much rather have the 16" rifle bare in terms of sights, and slap a Leupold VX-II 1-4x20mm or a FX 2.5x20mm as I have used in the past with GREAT results.

yep that is why I'm on the hunt to change mine out for a coned bolt I like it better. I might be doing a few changes to my new 10FCP gun including a stock change got a hankerin for a Bell & Carlson stock
