Anybody hunting in Canada with 9.3x62

Have wanted a 9.3x62 ever since I read John Barsness' intro on the cartridge in the Nosler #6 Reloading Guide (my Dad is the guide he refers to in the intro).
Finally got one in a Sako 85 LH Hunter. Harvested a nice young bull moose with it this fall. Worked as well as expected! Using the Nosler ammunition loaded with the 250gr AccuBonds so far, and they shoot 1/2" groups in this rifle.
Also tried a couple of other ammo types with the 286gr bullets (Lapua and Norma). These both shot better than 1" groups. Definitely more push on the shoulder with these loads.
Will definitely be using this rifle a lot more in the future!

Have also used the 35 Whelen on elk, and the 376 Steyr on elk and bison. Also worked very well.
These medium bores work very well on these larger big game animals, and are lot of fun to shoot, carry and hunt with!

I have three 9.3x62's (ZG47, BRNO 600 & CZ550FS). They all shoot the exact same point of impact when using 285/286gr bullets. 5 shot groups are under 0.30" at 100yds, and 1" at 200yds. Haven't gone out to 300yds yet.

Whelen... not Whalen or Whelan!!

Thank-you :)

all the eretics talking about the little whelen while we re talking about the marvelous .366 wager should be punished and forced to hunt next fall with any funny caliber newer than a year ...

There is one calibre I think some of us will refuse to hunt with - 37 Trudeau ,
absolutely no terminal punch, always jams when needed despite being fed by control method , a lot of noise and flash and does not penetrate for some unknown reason.
Tried to get recognition internationally and nobody is picking it up abroad.
Difficult to load, tried all sort of seating depth and found the only way for it to perform to bang ones head against a brick wall.
This calibre is going no where soon to be replaced by some American smart ass calibre ... sound familiar boys ??
Only one company makes a bullet in this diameter and it called a “dickhead” 0.37 297 grain solid

Been hunting with them since the late 1970s.

Moose don't run when shot with 250gr accubonds. Highly desirable outcome for those of us hunting in the north. Hunting is hard enough without having to cut up moose in the water.
