I'm at the 2010 Shot Show in Vegas and in the Really Good News department, I stopped by the Armalite booth and spoke with their guys. The official word from their production manager is that the AR180B is not dead and they are currently doing a redesign of the rifle. They are caught up with AR-15 orders from the Obama-effect and now have some time to devote to other projects, therefore the AR180B is back on the drawing board, literally. Speculation from persons outside the company is that any redesign will feature a non-polymer lower and a picatinny rail on the upper. I encouraged them to bring it back, saying us Canucks are eagerly waiting for it. Lets hope.

Anyone in Canada carrying parts for the AR180B? Having no luck. Looking to put together a spare parts kit in case of breakage.

That was posted last year
Oooops... didn't look too closely. Obviously not much happened to date...![]()
I'm back at SHOT again (this is January 2011) and tracked down Mark W. the president of Armalite. I asked him what's happening with the AR180B, if anything. He told me I could report to Canadian shooters that the AR180B is not dead. They have been working on a redesign including things like an aluminum lower, rail and an optional side folding stock. However, the project is currently "dormant" because other projects have taken priority. They have a limited capacity for design and engineering and have to go with the most economically viable projects first. There is no time line to bring the AR180B out of its dormant state. When it happens, it happens.
I encouraged him to do so sooner, rather than later and informed him that used rifles are selling for around double what they were when new and that in my opinon, there would be a huge demand for an improved AR-180B in Canada.
