Thats a funny question most times asked or assumed by non gun owners, people often jest oh man steve is loaded for bear, if ever the end o the world comes make sure to grab food and head to steves, but my personal guns are locked up so tight and so far away from my bedroom which is most likely where one would be if some arse holle was trying to do ya harm, that its impractical to think they would do any good, and honestly i am a paper shooter i dont hunt anymore and my guns to me are honestly not considered defensive weapons, i would soon split the bastards head open with a five iron or walking stick if ever put in that kind of position

True.

At the very least/easiest, your 'home defense' gun would be a non-restricted no bolt in one room, and the bolt+ammo in another. I think that's the easiest and quickest way to get to a loaded status.

Now, if you're cornered in the same room as your gun safe, that's different ;)

Yeah i suppose if some poor sole was crazy enough to chase me to my room and i was able to lock it behind me yeah i could only imagine the outcome hahaha al pacino and scarface pop into my head hahaha i hope i am never put or my family ever put in such a situation

Really?

How about a combo push button bedside lock box, with a loaded mag and combo trigger lock. Under 10 seconds with a little practice.

Well, this is a fun one. Since you have to lock up the gun so securely to be compliant with the law, I suggest a large dog and a baseball bat. But if you are ever asked if the bat was for self defense, answer " I was in fear of my life, I want to talk to my lawyer". and nothing else.

What a sad country we live!!!! No not the countries fault, we have let ourselves be dominated by politicians.

The answer is simple. A Japanese katana next to your bed and a cell phone. Call 911, then grab the katana and put it in your back while you open your safe.
