BCL Bison picture thread

What I love best about the mags is I can now use my large stash of USGI 10 round stripper clips and the clip guides friction fit on the top of the mags perfectly.

I may modify a Canadian Thermold stripper clip guide to fit for my stash of those.

Feed and function with these mags is head and shoulders improved over STANAG mags - at least dummy rounds.
Can't wait to shake the remainder of Covid to get out shooting this thing with the new barrel and new mags.

If you figure that out let me know. I've been thinking about that for some time.

BCL wanted to inspect my rifle as they don't want issues with production of their 300blk. They want to make sure they can resolve the issue for further production assuming it wasn't some sort of fluke.

I just put 2 and 2 together I’ve been watching your reviews on YouTube on the mrx and the Remington 700 pcr sb Great videos!

Thanks. Not really very good but I don't get paid for it so I do what I have the energy to haha

Got the rifle back with a couple of surprises in the box! Thanks BCL!

I've been visiting this thread off and on for awhile, thinking how this little rifle looked like it would be a really fun plinker/coyote/back-yard-varmint rifle. While in town yesterday, I found myself driving right by Cabela's, and with some time to spare, I stopped in to see if they happened to have any in stock.

They did! The guy behind the counter had no idea what I was asking about, but as I turned to go I spotted it right on the rack behind him. He even handed it to me without checking my papers! :)

And...sorry, but I just didn't get that warm fuzzy feeling. Love the design and the super-compact size...but, picking it up I was amazed at how heavy it felt. To me, light and compact go hand in hand; compact but overweight isn't that great. And the puzzling aspect of it was how thick and chunky the frame was, even (especially!) in areas like around the magwell. I don't know how much mass would be lost if there were some milling done in that area, but as it sits this is an uncomfortably porky gun for what it is. It's not that heavy per se as a hunting rifle...but considering the tiny new ultra-compact aluminum frame/receiver and the short barrel, the expectation is for this to be light as a feather...and it's not.

I'm not even stating that I won't buy one, might still do. But, right next to it on the rack was a Sig Cross, which I naturally also had to "coon-finger" a little, and by comparison it made the Bison seem even less svelte. The Cross was delightful; light, quick-handling, terrific folding stock; if it had been in .308 instead of 6.5, I would have bought it on the spot.

When I picked up the Bison, my first thought was "wow...this thing ain't light". But a few minutes later, when I picked up the Cross, my first thought was "I like this!" and my second thought was "This really makes the Bison feel like a pig".

I already have a Ruger Ranch in .223...lighter, cheaper and quite likely more accurate than the Bison. Hmmm...

I would strongly suggest to anyone considering this cool little rifle to actually pick one up and handle it before buying one. Might prevent later disappointment.

For me a bush gun needs to be tough, Tupperware doesn't do it for me been there, and left there. Curious was the other rifle the same price range? I know I pull my scope off use the flip ups and not worry about dropping my rifle and damaging it. Heavy yes, but so is my steel bumper on my SUV, the plastic bumper is long gone.

To me it comes down to value not always price. I do know dealing with BCL has been fantastic. They sent me a bolt upgrade part for light strikes even though I have yet to experience this. Now I did have weak extractor issue, three days later I had the replacement parts at N/C and took minutes to complete the upgrade. The robustness and mag options sold me. I love compact gun designs. The Renegade looks fun as well.

Over the years, the phrase "dealing with BCL has been fantastic" has virtually never come up in most reviews; for sure, that might be colouring my thinking a bit here. It's good to hear that they have cleaned up their act.

I still might pick up the Bison...but it will always be just a toy.

the thing i like about the bison the most is the fact i can have a 12.5 inch barrel. that’s very appealing! but then i really like the idea of a straight pull bolt!

hopefully 7.62 x 39 is in the works.
I'll buy one if they make them. I have everything to reload for it and don't want to have to get set up for 300blk.
This thread needs more pics by the way ;)

7.62x39 have left the facility some time ago. If you are interested, reach out to your local dealership. They would be able to order from the distributor. :)
