My favorite 22 pistol is an early S&W M41 with the 7" barrel. . If you were to consider a revolver, my favorites are S&W pre-model 17, S&W pre-model 18 and Colt Official Police.

I recently found one of these ugly space gun outfits on consignment for $200, said exc condition with only 200 rounds through it, so had to scoop it for the price. The action is almost identical to the old High Standards. Reviews are generally favorable for accuracy and function, trigger is hit or miss, and the grip is small apparently. I'll probably throw a little red dot on it just to have something different to play with, should be here next week and I'll get it out shortly after that.

I tried it out when I rented one for my daughter.
Just too light in my hand for my needs.
Almost identical in weight that downsized Browning 1911 copy in 22 and 380.
Otherwise it's better than just okay IMO.

Eyeballing the Glock, but also the GSG Firefly as a cheaper option. Any opinions?
Not the cheapest, necessarily. Looking for the whole package....reliability, durability, don't care about red dot etc. Just looking for something to take to the range and have fun.

i've had about 10 22 pistols over the years....my go to and the first 22 i purchased was a basic browning buckmark. Can't go wrong. Accurate....reliable....fantastic trigger...feels good in the hand. I've got about 15000 through mine with zero mechanical failures. It will eat any ammo and the mags are very easy to load.

Grabbed a GSG 1911 for my wife, so the pink one, she chose it over the Firefly after handling both, I was partial to the firefly, myself.

I've put a few mags through it, luckily the store I shop at is connected to the range I'm a member at, so I can use it while waiting for the transfer. It really is a great little pistol, recoil is just enough to be satisfying, and CCI Mini-Mags provide a nice pop when you fire it.

I first shot with the club's Ruger mkIVs. Not sure if it's because of the fact that they are club guns, but I HATE operating them, they shoot fantastic though, would love to try a brand new one.
