Well I am sure this recent addition to my trapshooting arsenal will garner it's share of odd looks and questionable comments when I hit the ranges with it this summer...;)
It's advertised as a 30" barrel in the original documentation that came with it but with that big long receiver which houses the counter-coil recoil suppression system it's the modern day version of the "Long Tom"...I had my wife hold it up for a couple pics for a size reference. She is 5'-4" and could lean on it like Ken Dryden used to on his goal stick....Laugh2

That's quite a rare find in this day and age. I understand that they were only made for 2 years so I doubt there are many around.
A bit of a weird look but much more aesthetically pleasing than a Ljutic Space gun! I've heard the reduced recoil system works well.

I hope this technology extends the shooting careers of folks with shoulder issues, and those yet to develop them!

Sadly it never caught on and Browning only produced them two years from '94 to 96' but their lack of popularity also makes them affordable. New they retailed for around $2500 but you can buy them for a few hundred bucks when they do pop up though there aren't many available. I shot a friends years ago and a 3 dram 1 1/8oz trap load feels like a 177 cal air rifle when fired. That and the fact they are so disliked by so many because they are so non-traditional is what appealed to me most. I wish when my friend sold his years back I had known it was going up for grabs as I would have bought it then. They are just so soft shooting it's amazing.

Man, you need to do a video on how that thing works.

Good idea! I will do that! I will make and post a thorough video of how it works and of it in action when the club opens in the spring. I'll give it to some of the members to shoot too and give their thoughts on it after shooting it. It wasn't a popular gun when introduced because the action is bolt operated and guys claimed it had a slow lock time but I think it was the counter coil system that gave them the illusion of slow lock time. I never found it slow when fired. Many found the spring system "noisy" when fired but I never heard it when I was focused on the target when I shot my buddies years ago. I only noticed it now when uncocking it for storage after bringing it home(Browning recommends storing it with the recoil system uncocked). It sure springs forward when dry firing but that is what it does to lessen the recoil. A counter system springs forward upon release of the trigger to offset the rearward recoil of the fired round. It's a very interesting concept. I am told it is somewhat similar to the Ljutic Space Gun designed by Al Ljutic years ago.

They are quite unique and definitely a LONG gun, the reach to the small forend is a reach to say the least. I am going to have to hold it as shown in the pic with my hand on the forend and receiver both so I don't feel so stretched out. My wife mounted it to her shoulder and with the stock set at it's shortest LOP of 14.25", a full 1.5" too long for her she said with enthusiasm "I love the feel of this gun, I want one so now the search is on for one in a Micro version which they did make. They had a stock which could be adjusted from 13" to 14" and a 27" barrel.

Is that George Costanza in the orange? Lol...

I knew a guy who had one of those, he bought it for his son.
Heavy as all get out if I recall correctly.

No recoil though.

Not sure what it weighs exactly but if I had to guess I'd say close to 9lbs. It doesn't feel overly heavy but it has a very strange balanced feel to it. It feels neither muzzle nor butt heavy but it has a wierd feel to the way the weight feels between your hands? It's as if the entire weight of the gun is in a 24" space?

Nice gun spank
Going to save you a ton of money since if you get on them quick you will be able to break targets with the end of the barrel :) and won't need ammo
Some long
Cheers

My wife (all 5'2" of her) shoots a Recoilless. Very well too, I might add.
One thing to watch for is the recoil buffer in the back end of receiver. It's a big rubbery doughnut, and the one in her gun ate itself jamming things up. I had to get one out of the states which turned in to a mild adventure in itself. Probably a good idea to pick one up as a spare if you can.

I'll look into that. Thank you!! Is your wife's the Micro version? My wife wants to find one now in a Micro...
