So i have the rifle back in my possession. I'm so excited about this build still its going very well even after 3.5 years, the rifle just keeps getting better and better. I'm very pleased with how the rifle stock turned out, it couldn't be better.
Chris and Wayne have done an amazing job between supplying the stock blank, roughing it out, fitting it it and finishing it, modifying/installing the butt plate, installing the grip cap and fore end cap, fitting and installing the safety tang. the checkering is perfect. very fine and fitment is so appealing to the eye
since picking the rifle up yesterday, I've soldered the barrel nut to the barrel it self, fitted the extractor grove and installed the rib
the rib and barrel were tinned before installing. it went very well.
i still need to cut the large dovetail for the rear sight base. I'm going to install the ladder and leaf sight into a base then install that into the rib.
the rifle weights 7.5 pounds with the rear sight setup on the scale.
I plan to add a half band on the barrel for for the front sling mount and a sling swivel on the butt stock.
The over all length of the rifle is 39" the barrel length is 19.25" and the length of pull is 14"
The rifle feels and handles so well, its almost all just finish work left. some engraving and blueing really is about it after the sling swivels
I picked up the rifle from the post office the way Wayne shipped it, i was embarrassed for my self. when i mailed it to him it was wrapped in a old box that i rolled around the parts and duct tapped it up. the top 2 pics show how he shipped it back
Ardent, I love the straight comb as well, its one of my favorite feature on the stock.
