I know why don't you just use the .270 you already have?
x2, mine flattens them like they were hit with a Dodge![]()
I went with a 6mm-284 it is only a 21" barrel but with 70gr ballistic tips and IMR4350 powder I get 3650fps and have loaded 90gr Barnes X bullets to 3500fps.
I'm thinking of giving RL17 a try in this cartridge should bump velocities up very nicely.
I have absolutely no feeding problems with this round and it is very accurate.
Only issue I used to have was finding 284 brass it is not all that common anymore but now 6.5-284 is available, all I do is resized/neck the brass and load regularly no fireforming required.

google is your friend......
Thank you. So is yours in a SA or LA? Do you ever use a little heavier bullet?? I was thinking about most 70gr and less, but it would nice to have the option of 105 gr VLD's.... I'm stumped as to what twist i should go.
I think any case mines going to be 26" barrel though.... so i would guess based off of your results with 70gr i should be close to 3850 to 3900 fp.
You could also try making one of these.

Good luck making your yote lazer. Keep us informed of your progress.

Oh? Thats about 750 fps better then i was hoping for..... I don't suppose you remember bullets used eh? Or for that matter who makes a reamer...
Have you bothered to read the original post?I don't want a weatherbey. I don't want anything based off a weatherby for that reason. I also don't want a .22..... mostly just because i just don't...
An odd six and .270 share the same case, no? So i would think it would be easier to use 25-06 brass, then either 30-06 or .270 brass, even though both would likely work, which is a bonus i guess.
I guess my biggest dilemma is finding real world info comparing the 6-06 and 6-284. FWIW, reloaders nest shows them to be nearly identical.

Camp Cook - Barnes is showing 3814 fps with their 80gr TTSX BT out of a 24" barrel 25-06 using Hybrid 100V powder! That bullet has a BC of .316 so you would have a PBR of 355 yards when zerod at 305 yards (+-3") and still have over 1000ft-lbs of energy at 450 yards. Not too shabby, imho.

I wonder what one could expect for accuracy??![]()
I have thought of that, but anyone and everyone has a .270. I have enough plain jane'ers sitting on the rack, and I'd just like something a little different.
