Buy a new handgun with the possiblity Trudeau takes it away?

I agree with everyone else. Buy it. Better to enjoy it then wondering the rest of your life how it is to own one. Life is short.

I don't think they want to tackle the handgun issue, hence the passing the buck to the cities who will probably do nothing too... just hope some maniac doesn't go nuts with one.

I don't think we'll see a handgun ban. For starts, there's about a million more of them out there than Blackrifles. Secondly, the liberals talked about banning AR's some time ago, with handguns they've never mentioned an outright ban, just central storage or giving municipalities more power of them. Both of those options are just silly. Given the sheer numbers of them, we'll either see a certain minimum safe requirement or grandfathering.

If you're too chicken to buy it, Trudeau's already won.

the should not be a problem and unless you re impacting your income do it as you can.

but in the mean time never assume they will never go after handguns ... they will never stop until the time we do not own anything ... enjoy them while you can.

They're already well into a handgun ban. I don't recall the exact percentage they claimed, but .25, .32, and short barrelled handguns accounted for something like half of those legally owned by Canadians. Coming back for the rest is a relatively small step. The only questions are when, and exactly what the ban will look like. Maybe you'll be able to look at it (not use it) for 2 years before you have to give it up. There are so many possible variations it's pointless to speculate on the details until they're announced.

That ban was 25 years ago and I believe was part of the basis for the Prohibited status. Nothing as happened since. And they may have accounted for half of the legally owned handguns then, but that number has increased exponentially since then. That's one of the main issues for government wanting to act on gun control, the amount of licenced owners and guns sold as grown steadily in the past decade, by a noticeable amount year after year.

They're certainly trying nonsense with handguns, storage, municipal bans, etc, but they've made no claims for an outright ban. A sweeping handgun ban would need to be legislated, and that would likely take a few years at least to fully come into effect. They're not allowed to add an entire category of firearm into prohibited status via an OIC, and they have no rhetoric for banning specific models. Bear in mind the Canadian Association of Police Chiefs and other org's have already said this is a stupid idea. They will try more roundabout methods, like storage laws.
They'll come after them one way or another, but it won't be via the same method as before.

Just buy whatever you want. It's legal, you enjoy it, and nobody gets hurt. Just like millions of other folks operate every day.

Buy it!!!

...the Ontario transfer time is terrible right now tho at 8+ weeks now...SO the sooner you buy it, the faster it is transfer over to you!!!
