:(I have been looking for a granade ( or copy) for display of years,
Rule303 is that the proper one ?
I have had a minty C1 , soldit like all the real good stuff I have
had, Have a L1, and A1, I hate to say it , but the A1 is in much
nicer condition then my L1A1.
I had top half of a new C2 and someone throw a pail of money at
me , so it is gone, thou I still have the teck. manual for these.
Also had a 22 kit as new in the crate-Gone ::(
Back when Century Int. was here I use to buy a crate of 1A1's
for about $80.oo? per gun and you also got the proper crate.
L1a1 cost more , Don't remember what $ 150-195.oo??
Mind you that is dealer costs, I sold crates of them, wonder
sometimes how many have paper?? Also brings to mind the Ak's,AKM's
and Valmets I sold- Sh++ I'm getting too old .
BTW , I feel for all you poor slobs living in Ont and B.c., that have
to shoot at Legal Ranges :)
M is Sk.

Fired them in the Military just before the C7 came in and loved the C1A1....I'll never be able to own one unless things change....damit!

Heres my sweety at the range, back when she was allowed to come out and play..

You guys make me sick... What I would do to get my hands on one of those.... I just don't have the heart to have one that's neutered....

NZ Collector, what is the IR light/optics worth nowadays?

I saw a complete set for sale a little while ago and the guy was asking in the $800 neighbourhood.. I just didn't want to spend that much, at that time, for something that would have definately just been a collectible and not a 'shooter'. I've spent more for stupider things, and maybe I should have bought it, and maybe I will if I come across another. Just at the time I had some other priorities.

Just for comparison

Top: Australian L1A1 fitted with a AN/PVS-2
Bottom: British L1A1 fitted with a L1A1 IWS sight.

The bottom one is fitted with an artic butt, shorter than normal and allowed the lightweight nylon ski march sling to be fitted, It also seems to have something on the foreend, not a spare pistol grip attachment? I recall those from the 1980's in Belfast!

And on the border too:

That thing is huge!

I guess they couldn't get far from base, dragging that extension cord around.

Was a patrol issued a generator?

The power supply for the Infra-Red light was a small 12 volt battery, sort of like a motor bike battery that was in a pouch.

Talking off generators, look at all the electronic crap troops have to carry nowadays.... they need a truck to carry all the spare batteries. :runaway:

There is a British version of this sight I'm still looking for but have only ever seen one picture of it in a "Night Operations" manual. Simply it was known as the Infra-Red Weaponsight.

Good eyes Tim, The British L1A1 is fitted with the shorter Arctic Butt with the side sling swivel and on the handguards is the Band that allows you to attach the Arctic Sling (basically a modified H&K 3-point sling), the one below is the Army configuration, also fitted is the rubber muzzle cover and lanyard.

The price sounds about right especially if the unit is complete with all the extras such as tools and pouches and the correct Canadian half cover mount. If you are collecting items for the C1 rifle then it's got to be on the list of things to get.

It might not be 'shootable' but it's very collectable.

Here's some pics of a display I did for my 8L rifle (sorry about the quality of them).

Nice early L2A1 SUIT sight, looks like it's had a bit of an upgrade over the years with a new eye-piece and replacement on/off switch, something that's not too uncommon for them. It took me ages to find a sight complete with all the early features still in place.
