C7A2 have arrived at our unit

Never understood why the M16 design requires you to take the rifle off your shoulder to #### it.

Apparently it was designed so that the user would have to remove their hand from the pistol grip & trigger to #### the rifle. :slap:

Wasn't the FNC1 a lot better? Just grab the cocking handle and it folds out and you #### the rifle in one motion with your trigger hand still on the pistol grip, with the weapon in the shoulder if necessary.

Heckler & Koch had the right idea with cocking handle even farther forward on the forend: minimal left hand movement to reach the lever.

Yup, it's a compromise alright. Maybe that's why they destroyed the C1s: so everone would forget they existed and no one could demand their re-issue.

Wrong on both counts.

I'll take your word for it since I've never shot one. :p

Can you keep your sight picture when you #### it, or does the cocking handle come back into your face?

Not much mechanical advantage compared to a more distant lever where the arm is at fuller extension though.

no but i don't recall being able to do that with the FN either.

and the preferred method is to #### with you hand on the pistol grip

Yes you can #### the FN with the rifle in your shoulder and keep the sight picture.

The original US drill was that the M16 was cocked with the firing hand, though I believe that was changed a while back.

The A2 is fairly decent as a purpose built rifle, whereas the A1 was made to be a jack of all trades. While there are a couple things that I don't particularly like about the A2 (unbalanced and front heavy due to the new design) they aren't that bad as long as you have a stock of parts following you around for when they start to fall apart.

When you only have $350 per rifle to do upgrades....what do you do? Even with the "economy of scale"....there's always the question of how much can you really get.

It's not ideal, but it'll do for what we paid for it.

If we need carbines, we should get 'em.

You get 250 dollars of labour paid to Diemaco for someone who got paid 22 dollars per hour to work on it for 30 minutes.

They could of saved money by letting the wpns techs do the mods. But I guess they would rather have the guys sitting around at the Svc Bn doing drill and dog f%^&ing lol

Nice to hear that they're addressing a problem by replacing the pin...

That being said, I'm going to keep doing what I usually do, and that's use the A1 charging handle whenever I can.

Is the slip on rubber pad generally black or green? Does anyone have details and pictures of the TRIAD? Is this a Diemaco only product? Does it work? For those who use foregrips, do you basically add those screw on rails onto the furniture?

I personally love the a2 way more than the a1, but being a lefty it seems the rifle is now way better for us than it is for you rightards. :p
