CC in Canada..what would you carry?

i'm not a fan of open carry ; tactically speaking, attackers or terrorists on the verge of going postal are able to identify the possible threats on the scene of their sick plans.

on the other hand , CCW'ers are a much bigger threat against their dirty projects as chances are great that nearly everyones on the scene has a dissimulated pistol with a chambered round on the hips..

Yup, only carry if the risk is there. It is call RISK MANAGEMENT.
To date I know folks that have been hurt/killed in car accidents. Too many B&E stories so yes, wear seatbelt, have first aid kit, lock the doors cause the risk is specific and measurable.

To date I don't know anyone personally that have been injured by firearms or home invasion (outside of line of duty). As a matter of fact I ask many "ANTIs" to identify victim they personally know to assess risk; thus far none. Maybe I'm lucky, live in a good neighbourhood but till the risk is there I'd rather carry a machete than a firearm.

If the sad days comes a 2.5-3" 686 with speer Golddot ammo or similar.
So you'd only carry after something happens to you or someone around you?
Ill go out on a limb and say I would imagine even in the states most CCW holders only ever need their firearm once, often never...and certainly not on a regular basis unless you're Zimmerman.
Carrying is not 'for fun'.

If it wasnt law...would you only wear your seatbelt after you've experienced an accident?
What about that first aid kit in the trunk...there before or after an accident?
What about door locks....do you lock your doors regularly? Is it because b&e's are common at your place or is it...... a preventative measure for that one time it COULD happen.

Maybe it's just that there are 35 ####ing million people in this country and you didn't talk to everybody, eh?

For me, Walther PPS 9mm, thaaaank you very much.

I have tried Glocks and other polymer frames and I can't seem to shoot those light things as well as heavy steel, so that makes a big deciding factor. I'll take less rounds I can put on target over more rounds I can't.

Concealed carry: Boberg
Open carry: 1911

I'll upgrade my 2013 reply to: Glock 22 or 23 .40 S&W stoked with 180 gr JHP's.

NAA.

And I'll update my 2011 reply to:

G17/G19, or a quality 1911 in .45, not because I particularly like .45, but that's the round the 1911 was originally built around.

Good reply burnaby,
I can't think of a time in 56 years where i needed or wished I had a firearm. I think the point is that for me the odds of ever needing a gun are so vanishingly small that the chance of needing one doesn't offset the hassle/potential risks involved in carrying on a regular basis

If i was to concealed carry i suspect it would be a compact 9 in polymer. Small Glock maybe?

Maybe you should read the ####ing title that ask what YOU would carry and not the other 35 million people.
You know how stupid you sound complaining that a personal opinion should NOT be based on personal experience.

With our current laws, Nerf hammershot with 8kg upgrade spring and metal hammer/trigger from blaster parts in Germany.

Almost 4 years since I asked this question (where has the time gone)..…and in 2015 I'll still vote for a Glock36.

Time marches on. I posted back then but now my mind wouldn't really change. I'd probably still choose the same Springfield 1911 I was looking at then. I know that pistol and it works for me. If I were to go a different route, a G30 would be my carry pistol, with 2 G21 mags on deck in case things got out of hand.
