Chinese SKS type 56 ID FAQ.... feb 19, 2013

yeah, read what Marstar had to say, and then got one. First full disassembly was today and the only real issues were tight releases and needing a whole lot of push to put the trigger group back in.

That's a 625 and there are quite a few out there.

I made the exact same mistake! Mine is a 625 from Marstar also..i thought it was a Factory 25.....: Glad to see i am not the only one....:) These Rifles are factory new and appear to be very well built, i have two of them (Factory 625 and Factory 306) and they are going to grow old with me...lol my next quest is to get a Russian.

You would probably need to salvage a barrel from another SKS but good luck shooting the barrel out of one. If you do you can just save alot of time and money buying a new rifle. Ive never had problems with either design, unless someone knows better I'd say pinning the barrel was a time saving decision like the spike bayonet.

Thanks Curtton!!
I have 2 Chinese sks , 1 is from Marstar Military batch 625 arsenal in the 1,5xx,### series with stamp trigger group and milled receiver

the other is an old import 6625 arsenal, 3 Chinese characters and serial numbers in the 25,###,### series with milled receiver , milled trigger group and import stamp

Why the first have a stamp trigger group and is the 1,5 million series and the other is milled in the 25 million series? Both are brand new in cosmoline

jpboivin, 6625 is not a common factory so not too much is known about them . could you assemble your rifle and post close up pic of factory code . does it have lightening cut on the carrier and bayo lug ? what mark is on the bottom of the sight leaf ? D , 3 or III .

Excellent research work

Thanks for all the work you put into this. I feel even more connected to my Chinese SKS's now. Looking at my long lug sks with a different respect now.

thanks for the pics.

yours is the second pics i got on 6625 , like i said its not too common . my other pic isnt too clear and now im in doubt that its a 6625 .

could you retake the above pic of just the triangle without the stock bcos the bottom of the triangle is odscured?

looks like your rifle took the longer route to come to canada, it came thru USA.

it seems to have a line but in fact there is no line, there is a blemish probably made by the stock and have you ever seen a 6626 arsenal?

Curtton look the next pic you will see there is no line,

how could you go wrong at $75 ? i never seen any imported SKS this low before.

consider it an early xmas present , just like the one i got from marstar last xmas , i got a free pistol with an order of a FSN-01 rifle.

i recall after the sale was over , several members was still asking if they could get the same deal .

I have a feeling I will be constantly staring at this thread over the next little while. I ordered an SKS from Marstar and got a phone call this morning saying my order is being processed. This thread and the one on cleaning the cosmoline off will be VERY helpful, thanks!
