Crusader Arms Crypto

Curious what would the legal procedures one would take if all of a sudden RCMP deemed this prohibited? Do you surrender it to the RCMP?
Viola Desmond way and then someday picture of Crypto rifle will be on $5 Canadian Crypto Dollar image.
Or old times way - you surrender nothing, but keep spraying your lawn with machine oil.

Go to a single stack 5 round. This would allow much heavier feed lips and magazine walls.
Go to a metal magazine.
Either would be sturdier than the current magazine.
Offer 5/5 magazines with an optional connector OR an extended base (like a lot of 10 rd pistol magazines. Service Rifle competitors would appreciate this. The rifles could be monopodded.
5 round magazines must hold at least 5 1/2 rounds for ease of insertion when the bolt is closed.

I agree with going single stack. Lots of room to take advantage of.

Metal magazines are not really feasible at this level of production. The startup tooling and associated costs alone make them not viable, plus material, assembly, coating, QC, and machine time.

Looks like sh!t (think 10ft paint job)
Runs like a champ, for now at least.

So Canadian... Haha. I'd buy a 2nd
I must have got a good one. Mine not only works good it doesn't look too bad not $2000 good but good and I have none of the other problems like the dust cover ect. The upper and lower have a different color but I like the look. I put a LaRue Rat stock and 510c feels good.

single stack would require new bolt yes, unless magazine is offset in magwell? i think keep it plastic but some offshore stamped metal feed lip inserts like glock would work.

Would it? The AICS magazine is single stack and is used in a wide variety of rifles whose original magazine systems used double feed.
The current proprietary magazine is reported to bulge when loaded. That indicates thin sidewalls. Easiest way to get thicker sidewalls and a stronger magazine when using plastic would be to go to single stack.
A metal magazine would be better.
The rifle itself is going to work just fine. It would be sad if it was crippled by the proprietary magazine.

bolt guns vs semis i'd suspect. look at the different bolt designs for the single-stack vs double sl8 configurations. stoner set up the lugs on the bolt head to grab rounds from alternating sides of the magazine. best case feeding from the middle would require presenting the round to the bold head in a different manner which would impact feeding, drag on bcg, bolt hold open, etc. possible but more work than just magazine redesign.

i think; well open for discussion. of course, back to the original problem, the solution to the proprietary mags is $200 to a gunsmith to machine the magwell to take stanag.

That might or might not be a solution. The proprietary magazine is a requirement for new post C-21 designs. Alteration of the rifle to accept STANAG magazines could be problematic.
The current government's intent is that prohibitions be "evergreen", constantly being upgraded. Sooner rather than later, the Crypto is going to be publicly classified, with the classification being published through the FRT. Might ease of conversion to use STANAG magazines be a factor in the classification decision? Or would conversion change classification?

valid points, i could totally see them pulling that on us. current law allows us to modify the firearm, but they could easily change that law and make it retroactive, essentially bricking our guns.

what boggles my mind is that people are so eager to spend (and have the disposable income) money to potentially have another paperweight in a safe. So confident in the laws that have been known to not be logical to not screw them over. On the other hand if people are so confident that the CCP will throw out all the gun laws the liberals brought in, why buy the Crypto if you're gonna get your AR15's back anyways?

People are assuming the Crypto won't be classified as a prohib...regardless of how you interpret the law, nothing is set in stone yet. I for one would not want to sink my hard earned money into something I can't use.
I suspect that if/when the ar15 gets unbanned by the conservatives in the near future that the vast majority of all these AR180 clones will be relegated to the back of the safe and just gather dust.

I am still waiting for my mags to get shipped. Which is frustrating. I currently have a very accurate and reliable self ejecting rifle.
I am not taking it to personal, as I would prioritize the whole rifle guys.

Here's 40 pictures of the rifle I had a chance to view.
Note: Receivers appear very purple due to the camera lens electronic self-adjustment.
They are actually about 50% less purple to the human eye.
This is important to note.
