He also said "I could be wrong on that" - at 01:14:00. And at the show CA said something along the lines that they have no plans to submit but if someone tries register restricted build, then RCMP has to create a record.According to the newest episode of the Slamfire podcast there is a Crypto rifle currently at the RCMP lab.
Yeah it wasn’t their best episode but usually they have pretty good info. The guest they had on seemed hit or miss. I misty have missed that part while listening. He also said "I could be wrong on that" - at 01:14:00. Also about this podcast - a lot of pretty stupid takes: "I'm sure lab is fully aware about what they (CA) were doing", "If it was banned, RCMP would have kicked in their door already" etc... I would not trust anything coming from ppl with such "deep understanding" how lab and industry work.
Where did you order yours from? Never mind just saw G4CGot my Crypto today. A day early even!
This is the first time we had a UPS delivery to our new ‘deep woods home’.
I wasn’t sure UPS would even be able to find it, as its address doesn’t populate on Canada Post or other sites. We’re in the middle of nowhere, yet this Ryder rental truck came down the gravel road with a bewildered UPS driver - he must have driven an hour out of his way. Strange there wasn’t some extra charge for that from G4C.
I cleaned the rifle up and it looks good. Immediately striking is the weight, she’s light!
Taking it apart is a breeze, even better than the most other similar type rifles. Simply pop the back pin out and the upper slides forward with, or without, the hammer back.
I tried some AR mags in it, even some horribly undersized ones that rattle back and forth and side to side in AR mag wells - NOPE! None will even come close to inserting.
My dust cover wants to pop open. You have to shut it with authority or it will only partially latch and then even handling it will cause it to open. Shut it with authority and it’ll stay closed, except for hammering the opposite side of it with your fist.
The mags seem very thin. Compared to Magpul mags there is more flexing. Loading five rounds will cause them to bulge slightly. Thusly, I inserted five rounds and tried to dislodge them by slapping the bottom as hard as I could (sounds dirty) - the top round would shift slightly to the center, but never did clear the mag lips and pop out
Someone suggested that there may be thin material on the upper, as was the case with at least one Templar. This is not the case.
Someone suggested that the front pins may be a weak point - so I applied downward pressure on the back of the stock, and front of the hand-guard, while the mag well was firmly on the corner of my workbench. I didn’t quite lift my 6’3” 190lb self off the ground but I certainly simulated more force then necessary. I would not have done this to my Armalite 180b or even my Kel-tec SU16, or GAWD FORBID my SR81, but the Crypto was fine
Oh well.
The proof is in the pudding tho - and that’ll be how she shoots.
So far so good.
2.5 weeks from ordering to receivingAnyone order a receiver set from Crypto? Did they ship same week?
That ought to be interesting.According to the newest episode of the Slamfire podcast there is a Crypto rifle currently at the RCMP lab.
The dumbass who decided those front pins will bear all sorts of downward torque doesn't seem to understand how those receiver parts interact with each other. The long surface upon which the upper and lower meet each other is what will bear any downward weight. The twin pins won't bear any more weight than the single pin of an AR15 receiver set ... and those last for tens upon tens of thousands of rounds.Someone suggested that the front pins may be a weak point - so I applied downward pressure on the back of the stock, and front of the hand-guard, while the mag well was firmly on the corner of my workbench. The govt puts a wall up and some smart person will figure out a way around / over / or under it. This is no different than all those CA compliant AR's created during the US Assault Weapons Ban .... and look what that bit of idiocy accomplished.
You guys are way beyond my user level knowledge.Reaction rod or a modified BEV block.
Modified leaves it still useable for AR15s.View attachment 818916View attachment 818917

I’d like to build up a receiver one day, should I gain the knowledge.
My first AR I built back in early 2000s. I just put the reciever in between my legs with the bolt in, and used a wrench, doubt I torqued to spec, and got lucky i didnt bend anything.. That gun is still being abused somewheres. TV press pass made it famous. You guys are way beyond my user level knowledge.
