If you want to reuse the factory barrel and still get the retro look a "dissipator" style build might interest you. Thanks for the assistance. I assume since the original A1/A2 style had a 20" barrel, a new barrel will be required for this build eh? I assume the handguard and triangular front sight/gas block won't fit on the 18.6" barrel that comes on the Crypto?
I'm completely new to building modern rifles as most of my stuff is old surplus which comes in much less variety and configurations than the new gear

lolThe purple is so hilarious will see how mine looks when I get it. Looks nicely machined in all honestly I see no issue there and I come from an engineering background.
How has it performed so far? Seems like very little could go wrong when the bolt carrier and bolt + gas system + buffer tube and spring are all AR15.
I do not know the size of the barrel but usually it will be slightly smaller than the gas journal which is fine if your FSB is held on with set screws.Well that might just work. Still do the classic fixed stock, carry handle, and dissipator style handguard. Would you happen to know what size sight/gas block I would need for the style of barrel coming standard on the crypto? Thanks eh
I say just shoot the thing. Spend the money on ammo.Well, I guess I better decide what I want to do because I had a Crypto follow me home yesterday from Fort MacLeod.... Do I keep it stock, add bits, bobs, and doodads, or do I try to track down enough stuff to make it look 1970's-esque?
I've been watching the EE for weeks and surfing most vendors websites but haven't had luck yet. Maybe I'm being too picky in hoping I'll find more than one part at each store to try to offset some pretty outrageous at times shipping costs

great reply, not sure what the op Gary was smokinHardly a marketing push. Pretty sure I said I didn’t like Crusader given their ####ty customer service/QC track record. Legitimately curious as to whether a proprietary magazine system is even worthwhile investing in or whether money is better spent on existing platforms.
Only 3000?lol, I bought the rifle to help use up the ~3000 rounds of 223 that I no longer have anything to shoot it out of....
You can get the double ended (AR-10 & AR15) one that TNA sells. Looks like they're outta the straight AR15 ones.Anyone have a reaction rod they'd rent or sell?
I believe it's for a 180 and AR 10.You can get the double ended (AR-10 & AR15) one that TNA sells. Looks like they're outta the straight AR15 ones.
AR-180s use the same barrel extensions (and barrels) as AR-15s. The TNA reaction rod works just fine for AR-15s/Cryptos/etc, believe me...I believe it's for a 180 and AR 10.
That you can still buy them from numerous stores would point strongly towards yes wouldn't it?are these still allowed?
