Dealing with VORTEX Warranty has so far been a hassle, please let me know what you...

the europeans: no more lifetime warranty .....

S&B 10 warranty on all other models but the PMII has a 2 year warranty but they will take care of you if something goes wrong for 10 years, more than likely they'll fix it for free, unless you completely destroyed it using it as a club or something similar.

Zeiss has a lifetime warranty now, 5 year no fault.

Kahles has lifetime warranty on the scope (10 years on glass, 2 on electronics).

Hensoldt has 2 year warranty from europe, but apparently US is giving lifetime?

I can understand why the OP is not happy on the way things are being handled but you have to be a bit reasonable as well. Unfortunately he left it for so long and now they don't offer that model anymore which makes it worse otherwise it would be a simple swap. Now if they offered to upgrade everyone's optic for free I can see that being a bit of a problem as well, you know "it fell off the truck" type of warranty. Myself, I probably would have paid the extra and upgraded.

I know of no manufactures of the top of my head that do not have a lifetime warrenty. It's pretty universal now

1) all warranties are not created equal, even if they have the same name and/or description.

2) a warranty through say, Korth, and a warranty through, say, Stoeger are very different propositions.

Korth (Leupold) has been fantastic the 2 times I've used them.

Nikon has (so far) been as good, though the transaction isn't complete.

Contact the American vortex warranty center. Tell them to sort their Canadian warranty center out.
Good friend of mine had to do this with a Bushnell. Tried to send it in for warranty, couldn't even get Bushnell Canada to return an email or give him an answer on the phone. Finally got it sent in and started to get the run around. He called Bushnell America and told them how crappy his service in Canada was, a few days later he had a new scope on the way.
The next model UP as his scope had been discontinued. He made 500$ on that deal.
He went from hating Bushnell with a passion after dealing with the Canadian side of things to loving Bushnell and wanting to buy another one of their scopes after talking to the American side.

Unfortunately I feel like we constantly get the raw deal when dealing with our own suppliers on our side of the border.

By law, the term "lifetime warranty" can't be used in some European countries, that's why you'll see 35 year warranties, etc. S&B guarantees they'll have parts for their scopes available for 10 years. After that, they'll probably give the option of a similar model or upgrade at a slight price increase.

Not his fault they discontinued it. They should hand him the one that replaced it regardless of magnification or price difference.

my last scope in SB had to be serviced and the warranty card was 2 years for electronic, 10 years for glass everything after that has to be paid for the service except parts that will be free ... not that much for lifetime.

in the other hands Kahles is not doing any services in N America so if for any reasons the lifetime is changing the bet maybe less years of lifetime ... Swavorski on the same token ....

some euro companies are not giving the same warranty for Canada or USA there is maybe a reason ....

I couldn't even get ahold of Vortex's Canadian warranty center. I explained that to the American warranty center and they sent me a new crossbolt for a Razor red dot mount that came rounded out right out of the box. That was the last Vortex product I bought, side by side with any quality red dot like Aimpoint and Eotech made me wonder what the Vortex thought it was doing in that price range.

My recent SB purchase (October 2015), the warranty card said 2 years for PMII. However I've read on US sites that S&B will be taking the PMII back to 10 year warranty due to high demand.

I think its the Kahles distributor who's giving lifetime warranty, as europe only gives 2(parts) and 10 (glass) I think.

WEll, thats how she goes, got a call to bag some predators (The only reason I was sending this thing out during X mas anyway... And I didnt get a single pelt) Mounted what they sent me, it's mounted and staying on the rifle , I dont like that its 10mm smaller and cant put a sun shade on it, but I will get over it (It's a tac driver)

So, I would deal with them again, I like the product and they mostly did what they could I guess, they ended up finding an in the box model of what I had, I will offer them fair Canadian price for it, if not, they can just save it if another one comes in. I just hope I dont need to get a smaller scope if another one fails on me.

I used to work at a gun store for 5+ years and I have sold a lot of Vortex's products. First thing, sometimes they discontinue their products and making them unavailable. So, if your scope was a discontinued model, then they have no choice but to give you a different one. That being said, they should NOT have given you a used scope. They should have at least contacted you and given you options on what you would like to do. As having a discontinued product is not your fault. Usually, what Vortex does is gets in touch with the buyer and gives you options, example, you should have been given options like being given a similar NEW scope, equal value OR been given a list of upgraded models, but only having to pay the difference in price. You should NOT have been given a used product AT ALL, this is not their VIP warranty as I know it. I have sent back several Vortex products, I was head of service and warranty as well as sales for firearms and optics. I know Vortex quite well, and this does not seem right. If I were you, I would contact Vortex and have a chat with them. Realistically you should be able to send back your scope in a million pieces, even if it was intentional, and they would have to replace it with a new one. That IS their warranty, no ifs ands or buts.

They did sent OP a new model with the defective scope discontinued.

Just a quick note. My dads rifle that he bought the day I was born had a redfield on it. Last year it piled up. I sent it to redfield. it was discontinued and they let me pick any scope they made to replace it. Im 42. That's how old the scope was and Im sure redfield has been through several owners. Leupold has never given me an issue the several times I have used them. Nikon pulled a switeroo with a lesser model like Vortex did with the OP.

Crap is crap. And a product is only as good as the company standing behind it.

I figure I should add to this post on my recent experience with Vortex Warranty. Sent a scope in on Friday the 8th after seeing that I crushed the 1" tube using Warne's scope rings. I've owned the scope for 3 years and questioned if it was really worth dealing with warranty, waiting 4-6 weeks for a replacement or just buying a new scope. Got an email on Friday the 15th (one week from shipping it to them) and they're sending me a brand new scope and it's already on the way.

After reading this thread I was questioning whether it was worth evening dealing with the warranty and if I should just buy another brand scope as a replacement. I'm very happy with my choice. Definitely reinforced my view of Vortex.

I had Vortex on my short list for a rifle in need of a scope...I think I'll look elsewhere.

I was in the same boat, looking at getting a mid-high power target/varmint scope, and while I constantly checked the EE (I missed a couple right after X-mas), it was looking like I might have to buy new. The Vortex Viper HS-T was seemingly going to offer the most features and quality at the price point I could afford.

Had actually planned to call one of the site sponsors but decided to do more research after reading through this thread. A couple weeks went by as I checked out more internet and magazine based optics reviews; then decided to go ahead anyway with the Viper HS-T.

Until I pounced on a Sightron SIII that wandered out unprotected on the EE.

I think I will be very happy with my SIII.

Expect I would have been happy with the Vortex HS-T

but this thread cause me to pause long enough that they lost a sale.
