One of the most common responses before you added the poll was "I LIKE the DM, but lack thereof won't keep me from buying a rifle". Maybe you could add that option in the poll as you have nothing like it.

I would add option (5)
I would remove option (1) = ridiculous opinion and (4) = just as ridiculous

As far as ease of unloading,push button,clip falls out.Feeding stoppage,pop out clip.Much the same as floorplate,only shells are contained instead of coming out random.Does not get any easier, than a clip!
 
well I own DM, floor plate, and bling mag rifles and have used all of them for hunting at one time or another.

I prefer a DM rifle, for the ease of loading and unloading. Mag comes out and goes into the top left pocket of my hunting jacket, easy to find and quick to reload.

as for all the other arguements, whatever...

you can lose your mag, you can lose your truck keys life is going to suck.

some mags dont latch well (my tikka 695 with the side latch sucks) others latch great (Savage111) and some hinged floor plate rifle latches leave a lot to be desired as well.

So nothing is perfect,


one option you missed on you poll is for single shot no mag rifles. There are some people who don't see a reason for anyone to have more then one shot anyways, afterall its the first shot that counts, if you need a second shot you screwed up :p

Ok here is a twist, for you shooters with floor plates and blind mags.

Would you prefer they switched your .22's to the same things when you are out for your grouse or rabbit or gopher hunt?:D
 
Oh, I like a tube mag in the gopher field. I have one of the new tube fed Marlin Bolts on order, and looking forward to it.
That's said 10/22's are fun, and a 10/22 without a 25 round steel lips is a travesty.
 
My Sako 85 mag was quite nice, tidy, and realiable. That said I just dont like the look of most other DMs nor have I ever said "#### if I had a mag I would have killed that thing". Ive seen my old man and gramps drop a round down the barrel, close the bolt, shoulder and kill #### about as fast as Id care to do so.

Make the first shot count, the rest are bonuses.
 
Big fan of the A-bolt hinged floor plate with detachable mag, you want to toss it in the truck, open the floorplate and it swings the mag out, but doesnt take any effort to swing it back in the rifle when you get out.

Also, at the range I drop the floorplate down, push a couple rounds in it and swing it back up and cycle a round in the chamber when Im ready. It migth sound funny but its easier to line up ammo in the floorplate swung open than underneath the scope. Once you get used to it, its a definate pro.

In terms of "rattling magazines", I think not!

I guess a Mannlicher-style magazine that takes clips isn't all that bad if you don't plan on using conventionally-mounted optics.

I prefer a DM for many of the reasons already stated. I do have a few FPDMs and don't mind them either. Not really a fan of HFPs, don't own one but wouldn't turn a gun down just because. Love my old model 94 but yeah, a ##### to load and unload when dogging in the cold. My old Lakefield 22 is okay but the mag does tend to catch on things.

I guess the long and short of it is, "Couldn't care less, as long as the rifle holds da boolits".
 
Although I own a Sako 85 and two Coopers with detachable magazines, I never purchased these rifles for that purpose. If they came with a hinge floor plate I would of been just as content. I generally load my rifle/clip when I leave the truck and unload it when I return, clip and chamber. No need to stuff it in my pocket where there is possible dirt, dust or other foreign matter that may interfer with it's mechanics. Plus, if I place the clip elsewhere other than back in the firearm I may forget where I placed it.
 
Sako 75 and 85 can be treated the same as an ADL. Top load and unload, no need to remove the mag at all...:)
