Do You Love Glocks Or Hate Glocks, And Why?

There are a lot of better range and competition pistols (speed, accuracy & ergonomics) than a Glock, although a Glock in the right hands can keep up with any of those pistols. The Glock is a TOOL for profesionals and was designed to fill that role. There are many analogies, but you can buy a Rolex, Breitling, Casio, G-Shock, Swatch, etc. Most will look better, feel better, offer more bragging rights, and have many fanboys, however a good ole Timex will take a kicking and keep on ticking, and you don't mind rolling in the mud with it. There are other pistols I like to shoot more, and I have to practice more often to be good with my Glock, but I will always have a Glock in my safe and on my hip.

You want to adjust your first point, everyone knows that Glock are with a snappy recoil, which is typical from plastic toy.

Well, I've tried two Glock sor far and I disagree with you, both were snappy in hands, same for the PX4 Storm that I had

interesting... I've found quite the opposite. To me, glocks feel much less snappy. The recoil impulse feels more directly rearward, rather than the upward flip I feel from some other guns, and seems to be somewhat absorbed by the polymer frame. Probably not true, but that's my perception. Even my 10mm Glocks feel significantly less snappy than the steel-framed 10mm I tried. My polymer-framed HK45 also feels as though it recoils differently - and more pleasantly - than my 1911's in the same caliber. I was originally a fan of steel-frame guns, 1911s in particular, but I've switched mostly to polymer framed guns for all of the above reasons. They feel better to shoot.

Well you asked...Not sure why? it is what you like that matters .. I do not care for the overall feel of a glock , but I think they are a great service type pistol, one you would take to a conflict, and feel confident it will work in adverse conditions. But, I prefer a cz85, hi power. but just my 2 cents worth. Another reason why I do not care for them is the fact that a lot of other people do like them lol...I just got to be different.

9mm or 40? 40 is VERY snappy in a Glock. 9mm, tame.
No. EVERYONE does not know. I also experienced lower recoil/ less snappy was with my Glock 19 and both 21s. Compared to a .45 1991A1.

Pros: Low bore axis, simple to detail strip and replace parts, easy to get parts vs. other guns, very reliable, in the G19 very size efficient, reasonably accurate.

Cons: I dislike the grip angle, not as accurate as HK or Walther, trigger not as good as HK or Walther, grip can be bulky (solved with Gen 4), don't look as nice as other European polymer pistols.

I love my HK's and Walthers but I still own 2 G19's. Customized by Bowie Tactical Concepts, so the grip fits a lot better vs. stock Gen 3.5.
Please note the difference in accuracy is small, for realistic applications Glocks are accurate enough.

Got a 26 and a 30. 100% reliable and accurate but not "Lookers" for me. A polished blued revolver or 1911 and once in a while a bright steel Colt do
it for me. Still I wouldn't sell'em.

Snappy? Doesn't look too bad to me and this one's in 10mm AUTO. The most powerful semi-auto in the lineup.

Can't say I've had some time with a CZ of any model (looking forward to it though) but the Browning P-35 HiPo is a legend in and of itself. Damn things are still being used today and probably will STILL be used 30, 40, hell even 50 or 60 years from now. It's a shame the man died before he could finally see his dream through to the very end :( he made a ton of good firearms.

Love/hate. Love the way they look, feel, are built/reliable and most other things about them but hate how bad my groups always seem to be....I don't think it's the Glock, is it?!

An all metal Glock would probably have less felt recoil, but it's current excellent design does drastically reduce the potential of recoil felt by some of its all metal competitors.

A 9mm 1911 ranks closest to the G17 (slight worse than the G17) in perceived recoil. It's low bore height is the reason, not necessarily the steel composition.

Next worse in my experience is the HKP7. Still very light recoil. Again, low bore height.

Sig 22x series has much, much worse recoil, and it is steel, only proving that bore height is far more important than pistol materials.

Beretta is even worse than the 22x. Again, steel gun, but higher bore height (and fatter grip which is harder for my smallish hands).

These are all my observations. Your perception may vary. However I have had MANY people do a side by side test of the G17 vs Sig226 (E2 grip) with the same ammo, and EVERY single person has said that the Glock has much less recoil.

Having just gotten back into handgun I tried a Glock. The angle of the handgrip was bad for me that's why I chose the HK P30L. otherwise I think it would be on my want list.

Love hate for me too....put off buying one for the longest time...then bought a zev tech g22.... Loved it....traded it for a sweeeeet rifle...and have struggled again to replace it...I do find the looks a little un appealing in its standard form.....but I know deep down how good they are....I will have another...

I know that I said that I would try to just sit back and listen, but this is off the topic, and not correct.
To be clear, I did NOT express an opposing view simply to be contrary.
I wasn't trolling, as you accuse me of.
I simply stated my opinion as I saw it.
It's what I believe.
And, I did NOT attack those that disagreed with me.
I simply offered a rebuttal to their arguments.
What I DID do wrong was to respond with a detailed rebuttal to just about all who offered an opposing opinion.
I should have just let it go with a couple of replies.
Read the thread if you like. IMHO I attacked no one. I just argued my position, and that resulted in anger, which was a complete surprise to me.

While it is true that I don't like Glocks, that doesn't matter at all.

I am interested in YOUR opinions about Glocks.

I just want to hear them and I am not going to comment on them.

So, please allow the discussion to continue without being derailed.

I normally do not respond to threads asking for opinions on anything. Like the old saying, "opinions are like a&$#les etc...".
If you like/dislike something it should not matter what anyone else thinks. Again to use an old saying "if you believe, no proof is necessary......"

Hate it, but only because I couldn't hit a barn door at 10 ft with it!

Get someone to train with you to ensure you know how to hold the Glock. (sounds dumb, I know...Who doesn't know how to hold a gun!?...with practice you'll hit 9-10 rings @25 yards...promise;)) The gun is inherently a service arm and not exactly a precision shooter...but then again, neither am I? :p
