Ellwood Epps client service SUCKS for me!

Well, as I said earlier, they messed up my first purchase big time, BUT they took care of it and did solid on the next 2, and being in retail (99% on line and over the phone) myself, I understand how Harrier .45 feels when the silly or mundane questions never seem to end. Mistakes happen, the people that work at Epps are human, sh!t does happen, I can look beyond the odd mistake, I will continue to build a long lasting relationship with them ;)

Looking forward to the drive up there myself. Being in Whitby, i thought about checking out Gagnon Sports. However, it seems they are mainly into Non-Restricted Firearms now.

dealt with epps on two transactions. nothing great about them, but nothing negative either. only thing i hate about epps is most of the firearms and ammo are locked away where you cant see them. local shop here has all its firearms on the wall and in the display cases. ammo is the same way. thats how i like it. i know epps probaly has the largest collection of firearms going in canada but for cripes sake start showing some of them off. i like my eye candy.

We have more than 700 firearms on display in the gun room, with more than 4,000 others in the warehouse upstairs. We simply do not have the room to display more than what is already on the sales floor. But our salesmen will happily bring down any item that you wish to view. We ask only that you provide us with the inventory stocking number for the item that is of interest to you (NG###x for new guns; UG###x for new guns) so that we can locate that specific item.

As for ammunition, the CFO mandated during their last inspection that we cannot display open cases of ammunition in the gun room. Many of our customers will recall that we used to keep boxes of the most common ammunition available for them to pick off a shelf as they required. Unfortunately, we must now keep all opened cases in our ammunition magazine, away from visual access to the customer. Only sealed cases are permitted on the gun room floor, hence the flats of sporting shotgun loads, and sealed cases or crates of military ammunition that are piled to one side of the room.

We truly wish we could go back to the old method where the customer had access to these goods, but this is not our decision to reverse.

Just ordered a firearm over the phone and it went smooth. I am planning to pick it up in person so I should be able to pick out any faults before I take it home. I have not bought a firearm from Epps but have bought hunting equipment and reloading components and have never had a bad experience. They seem to have anything you need, all you have to do is ask. Truth be told, I have never been in a gun store and had friendly service. Something about gun store employees??? Make it simple, know what you want, ask if they have it, and get the hell out!!! Next......

Pretty much my experience as well!!!

For the large stores for the most part, some of the smaller stores are more forgiving.

Received my first restricted firearm from them about two weeks ago. Everything went smooth, and I will order from them again.

Now I just have to decide what I want to buy. muhaha

I was there this past sunday. Three guys in the gun room. 15 people waiting. And the guys behind the counter seemed to be moving in slow motion.

Left after half an hour. All I wanted was some reloading supplies but no one was at the counter.

Hey OP sorry to hear about your troubles. Personally I thought they were a good company to deal with. Hate thier email system of two emails to ask for Pics and to ask for info. But there is probably a reason for that that I haven't seen. Hope you find what your looking for.

Bought 5 restricted from them, last 2 where a pain, ordered 1 in March, no news then bs...about other people ordered before i did, cancel my order last week had to e mail 3 times to have my deposit back...will not do buisiness with them again...

That's fine, the law is the law but do I need to wait almost an hour to get a box of ammo?. There were 3 customers ahead of me, two actually bought firearms but the 3rd an old FUDD made your sales guy pull out all most all your Russian surplus and inspected them all to find a perfect one. Didn't find one and was asking when more would come in and then went into a history lesson.

My recommendation is even with a sale and when it's busy; get it done quickly, be polite and curious, keep the BS chit chat to a minimum and get them moving. For the old tire kicker FUDDs that have nothing better to do than look at old crap and revisit history; make a special line for them, after all you are not running a barber shop.

On slow days do as you please but you got to do something for ammo sales.

At this point I am so pissed off that I won't be buying ammo from you again unless you are practically giving it away. After all, waiting that length of time for your overpriced ammo was NOT a pleasure.

I dont think the above post is too off base.

I love the store but you got to listen to the constructive criticism, it is often a pain to get ammo or reloading supplies. Set up a dedicated ammo/reloading line.

Hell no one even knows what ammo/reloading components you have in stock or what prices, set up a ammo/components price list too

Pretty sure the two seperate e-mail deal is because there is one guy that is employed full time at Epps and all he does is take pictures of guns and e-mail them to people. He literally doesn't have the time to be answering questions too.

No Kidding. No ammo prices on the website and i waited 3 days for a reply email. Too far to drive for those ammo prices.

At the start of this thread I made a post that the first time I tried to deal with them would be my last. They contacted me and asked me to explain what happened. I did that the very next day.

Two months later I get an email back. They questioned if my problem had ever really happened in the first place. Also they stated that I should have complained right away to them and not on this forum.

I informed them that I was the customer and if I thought that I had received bad service that I would handle it however I wanted to. I also informed them if he had just stated that in the future they would try and do better that everything would have just gone awaybut by making excuses and trying to blame me I figured that this must be a common thing that happens with this store.

Just my two cents worth.

That's shady. Calling and emailing you to not speak of thier companies reputation because it may bad is one thing, but monitoring your posts or here and saying its not allowed is BS. I would be pissed.
