Elongated holes at close range. Why???

You should check each bullet with a caliper, and load the undersized ones in your mags strategically.

See if you could shoot a cool smiley face or spell your name or something.

lol.

For the price you're paying, it's hard to beat as training ammo. Keep the better stuff for serious applications, like targets that look menacing.

I really don't understand the thinking here. undersized ammo is really not good to use in a rifle of any quality, if you actually stop for a moment and think of what the blow by does to a barrel you'd never use this crap, never mind the gas system. , but why would you willing ruin your own kit shooting this?

I just put the caliper to 100 rounds of yellow box CJ93 Norinco and 20% were under .222, a few of those being around .221

meh, isn't 22.lr undersized anyhow in conversion kits?

As stated in my last post guys, I shot mostly AE on the course and did not experience the extreme yaw while doing so. This target was shot by someone else shooting Norinco, I thought maybe some guys who were on the course that day would like to see it.

I still have most of the case I bought from rusty wood, and at the price it was selling, I don't regret getting more. Just know what your getting.

I'm just giving you a hard time Steve, all in good fun ;). May I ask you to point me in the direction of the out of spec rails? First I've heard of it, feel free to PM me so as to not derail this thread.

Steve, or Andrew, What distance did the yawing happen at on the latest course? Was it all under 3m? I still cant wrap my head around the fact that Steve only had this happen under 3m and never at longer ranges unless that has changed. Its a real bummer cos I was going to order a crate of this shyte... :(

Really as long as you have some fun and collect your brass you get your $$$ value. It's not match quality ammo but the brass is still useable for reloading and the ammo is great for general plinking. Have some fun and use it to get new shooters out without breaking the piggy bank ;).

What does the blow by do to a barrel?

at least its printing on paper, and not actually having a sideways or "bending" trajectory ala "Wanted". That would just be stinky balls. Regardless, ####ty ammo. I've moved that stuff to bottom shelf reserved only for ####ty friends.

I don't know what the hell he's talking about, out of spec rails??? WTF??? There was a guy who had a Swiss flat top with out of spec rails, I asked if anyone knew anything more on the subject. |The only rail I run on my rifle is a little flashlight rail mounted to the hand guard.

I only shot about 20 rounds of Norinco on the course and saw a couple keyhole's. The other gun that produced the latest photo was not mine. The course was run from about 3m-25m and the keyholing was consistent. The particular target I last posted was shot from 15-20m

check out his other thread about having to replace a receiver, ask yourself why the receiver failed. not rocket science.

Dietz these caliper checked rounds you did, I assume you did them while still in the case and didn't pull the bullets. Sometimes lighter bullets in different manufacturers and calipers that are seated to the cannulure,.. are not full caliber till behind the cannulure. I'm not saying this is the reason for them being at 222", just that unless you pulled one and checked it closer to the base, you can't definitively say they are not .224". If these are .224" well behind the cannulure closer to the base and boat tail, you can see there would be a very tiny driving band area to seal the bore properly preventing blow by which upsets accuracy, and also giving the bullet enough of a cylinder to ensure concentric alighnment with the bore axis as it is driven forward.
I do not have any Norc 556 to pull and check, but you possibly could pull some and see if they go to .224" a little further back. AE is .224" at the case mouth.
Just an idea as to the keyholing, besides fully undersize projectiles..

Not sure I know what your talking about. I never shot a round of norinco through the replaced receiver. nothing but AE actually. You seem to know what the problem with it was, I'd love to know? Especially since they couldn't figure it out at SAN.

So what does that have to do with undersized projectiles in crates of norinco ammo?

I'll pull a few tomorrow. I just wanted to run a quick test to see if the bullets were consistent at the neck, which they were not.

nothing that ads to the barrel life, research internal ballistics. it's all pretty self explanatory

Done. Hard to imagine the occasional blow by would have any significant affect on the life of a semiauto range-rifle. I don't think I will loose any sleep over shooting this ammo from time to time.

As Steve said after 4K rds his barrel is doing just fine. I've decided against this ammo for the keyholing but otherwise its fine for cheap plinking ammo.
