FINALLY got a 1919a4!!! Finally ran a belt, video in post 101...

Well folks, I finally sourced some 30-06 M1 links & FINALLY got out to the range to try running my 7.62 Nato 1919a4 on those M1 links. This video is 20 seconds of bliss with the M1 links! We also ran a full 250 rounds in a cloth belt & another smaller metal link belt. It took the gun about a half hour to cool off! HE HE HE

I think you will agree, it's working AWESOME with the M1 links!!!

Now I can run my 1919a4 on original cloth belts OR M1 metal link belts! :ar15:

Chuckle 5440fight, I actually GOT TIRED of pulling the trigger!!! When I ran the 250 round cloth belt, I had to switch hands!!! The trigger on this beast is NOT 3 lbs!!!

I had some of the 303 aircraft MG's that were used in aircraft, converted for ground use. They were incomplete and considered dewats.
I would love to have one of the SA 1919's, someday I may have one.

KevinM managed to score a 350 in the Mad Minute at the last shoot, compared to my third place 46 with a Long Branch. Think he fired 100+ rounds?

Seriously, a whole line of 1919s would be absolutely epic... I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it.
 
Got off 125 shots in 60 seconds, had to play with the t&e a few times though, fingers were sore by the end too!

Bring your 1919's out guys, should be a riot!

This pic was taken over an hour after the mad minute, and the barrel was almost too hot to hold for the photo lol.

I forgot to say that I tried the steel cased Chinese 308 & the very first round fired & then jammed in the chamber. I tapped it out with a cleaning rod & went back to brass cased ammo...

Anyone else having success running steel cased ammo in their 1919a4? I have several cases of the stuff & it's relegated to my M14 now...

I know that some semi auto rifles have issues with steel case ammo because of the varnish like coating etc that they put on them. If you take a casing that's sized for a 308 chamber and then essentially coat it in a layer of paint like varnish making it thicker without doubt it could cause some issues. I know this was the case with my Kel Tec RFB. All sorts of ejection and extraction issues. Didn't like zinc plate 308 ammo either.

I would suggest taking some and putting it in a go no go gauge. You will probably find my suspicions are correct.

The Chinese ball is more likely a 7.62x51 clone than a SAAMI .308. It is copper washed, not lacquered. If it runs in Jay's M-14, it should run in the Browning.
Given that the T slot is tearing the rim, it would probably be best to avoid using it until the problem is identified. Wouldn't want to risk damage to the bolt.
Fired Chinese cases I've seen look perfectly normal.
I'm guessing, but I wonder if clicking the headspace a notch would help. Is it currently set with a 7.62x51 gauge?
