I might get one of these as my 1st handgun. Would this be a good choice? I've been a long time member at a gun club just never got into handguns. More hunting focused.

Clever marketing to get rid of old-stock at premium prices. Pass.

That’s a ridiculous statement the G19 Gen 4 isn’t being discountinued and many agencies are continuing to purchase Gen 4 9mm pistols. FYI $710 is CDN MAP please tell me how that is premium over other vendors who rebarrel Glocks ??

You don't find it at all convenient that they didn't bother doing this prior to the announcement and roll-out of Gen5? Please don't take me for a Glock hater, I'm not and am in fact in the market for one, but this is purely marketing. Fair ball on price, I didn't know what it was prior to commenting and it seems very reasonable.

Agencies will continue to purchase Gen 4 on cost and current investment in the platform. It has absolutely no correlation to the civilian market.

Glock is a love/ hate thing, I love my G19, it is my favorite gun because it fits my hand perfectly, many others hate the way a Glock fits their hand. You really have to shoot one to decide, I would suggest going to a local rental range if possible and handle and shoot one to see if it works for you

Not picking on you edgy but your post is a nice segue into this question. How many people who complain about the "fit" of a pistol really have a clue what they're looking for in the first place? My experience with people shows that they are more concerned about the "feel" as they really have no idea what qualities to look for with regards to "fit".

I know all glocks are made the same regardless of where it is manufactured. Something about having USA on the side turns me off.
Could care less about the Maple Leaf on the side. I wanted the 106mm barrel a lot!! I had one of these on Preorder but found an Austrian one with 107mm barrel. Lone Wolf. I figured the 1mm would not make enough of a difference appearance wise.
Also paid about the same in the end. I like both though.

How do you feel about the aftermarket black 107 or 106mm barrels vs a glock factory 106mm barrel?

I would prefer the OEM Glock barrel unless the aftermarket is an IGB or similar quality barrel in black. Not a fan of the LWD barrel, had 2 that gave me problems.

You could have a factory threaded barrel turned down to minimum length.

I am constantly surprised that Glock hasn't come out with a hybrid G17/19 pistol.

It would be IMO an ideal CDN Glock. Wouldn't have a stupid looking barrel pokeout satisfy the barrel length issue.

Besides being CDN exclusive and cool......

A G19 frame with aG17 top end is an excellent balance and very shooter friendly.
The extra sight radius and muzzle forward balance make it more practically accurate.

Of course for CDN's the compact issue is irrelevant under our current oppression...but things can change.

The G19 gripframe altho not hugely shorter than the 17 would def conceal and carry easier/more discreetly while slide length doesn't affect much until much longer.

A G19/G17 hybrid, no finger bumps, steel sights with colour options like grey/OD etc...and distinctly CDN markings including a maple leaf.....
I would be in for a pair!

The CDN market is too small obviously to expect such a package.

But the G17/19 hybrid is an excellent platform...very surprised Glock don't offer it. Would cost them literally nothing to do so...simply mixing matching existing parts and into the Tupperware box they go.
There are plenty of aftermarket companies doing it...and even more self jobs.
I have a couple and they work great.
