Grumpy Wolverine covers up a UTAS UTS-15 fail!

Turkish engineering, what do you expect. If I want something made in Turkey, I will buy a rug.

On a separate note, I like Wolverine Supplies. They are always a pleasure to deal with. They are one of the best, if not the best, gun dealers in Canada. However, they are still a business. If you treat their "product reviews" as anything other than advertisements, you are naive. The guy even admits that he was going to edit out the malfunction footage and just keep the part where he says that the gun works great.

Just for the record, if you go back through all the videos we've done on the UTAS, you will hear me say many times, they don't like some ammo brands, they have had their problems and once again they aren't for everyone. Yes we were going to edit out where the ammo caused the problem, because as this thread is proving most folks will blame the shotgun first. For the record that same ammo doesn't feed properly in my Benelli either, so you should all probably stay away from those as well.

if anyone coming out this way, bring your shotgun and come out to the range and run a course with me. I'll use a UTAS. For those of you who have been to our Wolverine Days you have seen what the UTAS can do and how accurate they can be with slugs as well.

Weird where's grumpy? Figured he'd be here saying atleast something??

Nevermind Grumpy... Where's the OP?

So, can someone point me to a description of how to identify the various generations of UTS-15. I am interested in one, but want to get a "good one"

thanks

The generations really aren't a hard defined or always easy to tell for the older ones. The guns in Canada were all Turkish made. Some of the earliest, I guess you would say Gen1's have horns/handles on the followers that stick out etc.
the second generation where the ones the we at Wolverine started to bring in, they had polymer rails and loading/monoblocks. There are some guns that would be called a gen 2.5 as they ended up with the magnesium loading/monblocks but polymer rails. The Gen 3 guns have magnesium mono/loading blocks and rails. The Gen4 guns also have aluminium gear boxes and the spring assist pump action. Hope that helps.

if he is a FNG....how can a put this in the nicest terms....um have some respect....wolverine is a 100% GREAT outfit.....John we Love you man....

At what post count should the OP be "allowed" to post interesting videos. According to you? If he is a fng as you surmised.

So. If I noticed this mishap in the video I would have waited for the Gen 5 but I didn't notice. I'm not impressed by the cover up on the video but I get it. Honesty in retail to me is very important and as a slight critique you should have let the fault stand and cleared it and kept shooting. I could accept that.
However. I do buy into your explanations and because I didn't notice the fault in the video I bought one and am very happy with it. I put 100 slugs through it on Sunday with 2 mis feeds, both my fault for short cycling the gun.
Grumpy is correct. This thing rocks. The front end of the gun was grey when I was done. I had a great time and would recommend this weapon for a lot of uses.

I finally got my hands on one of these a few weeks back... Just fondled, didn't get to fire it, and I was not impressed at all. It's a very cool gun and I'd love to have one, but it's just to loose and plasticky for me. The pump is very loose and it rattles a lot and the plastic feels very flimsy. This was a brand new gen 4 too, not an old shot out unit. The forward assist, and several other aspects of this gun really attracted me to it, but I just can't get past the cheap feel of it.

Also, the LOP on these things is very short. I'm 6'1" and I have fairly long arms, it was way to short for me. Felt like an 870 youth LOP.

I was actually seriously considering selling my 870 desert recon to get one, but I can't see it happening. I'll wait and pick one up on the EE some day for ####s and giggles, but not to be my primary shotgun.

3-gun I think not. Ever had to start a stage empty or with a stipulation of x rounds maximum loaded in order to force a reload ?

heard great things about Wolverine.
but for turk guns, I have had my round of troubles with them in recent years and I will not buy any guns made there.

First off I would like to thank you for bringing this video to my attention, that will teach me for not viewing the final "cut" all the way to the end before saying it was good to go up. This one is indeed a take that had some malfunctions caused by some poor quality non-brand 12 gauge ammo. The rims on it were slightly undersized and allowed some of the rounds to push past the stop on the loading block, jamming the shotgun and flipping up the cover. Once we changed out the ammo for some Score and Federal (I think the second brand was federal) we had no issues what so ever, and somewhere there is the proper ending to show it, but no idea where it might be now.

The only way to prove this to be the truth and not a story to further cover a cover-up, would be to show this supposed "proper ending" footage. Until then my verdict is that the video is a cover-up for a failure and this post is a cover-up for the video. I'm sick of typing cover-up.

Trust me, I'm a lawyer.

I don't buy Turkish guns either but for different reasons. This is somewhat of a new concept so these failures are expected. Turkish guns, compared to Chinaware, are of much higher quality.

Funny. No Norinco has ever failed to work for me, all of them were great, including shotguns, handguns, rifles. The exterior finish often could have used work, but they were solid tools.

Oh boy, isn't that a mix of anecdotal evidence and a facile argument? Just because your Norincos have never failed, it doesn't mean no Norinco will ever fail. Sure I have 2 Norinco guns myself, they work, but the fit and finish on them is sub-par to say the least. To me the fit and finish, or what you call the exterior finish, is part of the quality. I once handled a Norinco M87 that had such sharp edges on the trigger guard, you could chop veggies with it. And another thing, UTAS is a new design, obviously it will have it quirks.

I'm a usaed car salesman. Will you trust me too?

Aw ... hell yes!

I doubt you have experience with norc guns at all. Plus, you expect failures from mass production shotguns? And you said you are a lawyer and a 'good person'?!?! How s that even possible?
