Using a pneumatic engraver IS “by hand”, not unlike comparing an air nailer to a hammer. MANY top name engravers learned the hammer/chisel them switched to pneumatic tools to save time, again, not unlike a framer or roofer switching to an air nailer. In regard to what I posted, entirely done by hand ,Brian i believe may use a pneumatic, but Paul does not
I agree ,and can say that all you want ,but try and tell PaulUsing a pneumatic engraver IS “by hand”, not unlike comparing an air nailer to a hammer. Very nice. Always love nicely chiseled fences. Also am a fan of carrying the engraving to the breeches on the barrels. IMO two of the things that separate higher end engraving from the run of the mill scratching to break up large blank spaces. This week's contender for "nice rib"

This a Charles Daly single barrel trap gun made in the early 1900's. The gun was made by the well known Prussian gunsmith, H A Lindner.
I'm not sure what grade this gun is---certainly not entry level, but not the top grade either. the gun is owned by a fellow gun nut who had it at the Calgary Easter gun show. In fact, he asked to put it at my table as his was over flowing.
The engraving is extremely well done. Enjoy!

A little off topic, but (easier to ask the question then buying a gun just to satisfy my curiosity)...
- On that Prussian Daly, are the side plates removable to give access to the mechanism without removing the stock ? Like boxlock wanting to be a sidelock ?
And since this is a picture thread... same gun, different grade of engraving
