Halifax M-14 Clinic26 Sep 09 Debrief HERE!

Call me a n00b, but what exactly needs to be sandblasted on these rifles?

Main reason for sandblasting is in case you have something you need parkerized, it lets you prep it first.

So, suppose you bought yourself a new bolt or op-rod, and you want all the parts to match properly....you sand-blast 'em, and then re-parkerize them.

We have the technology (and Hungry has the experience) to show us how to parkerize properly if someone needs it done!

So Hungry... when is the Ottawa clinic ;)

Hungry here: Third Saturday in March at the Vankleek Hill GC. We have done this for 2 years now. Thanks to johnone at Marstar.ca for doing all the leg work for me to come along! Stay tuned. AT least this clinic fills up FAST! You should see how fast the Calgary and Edmonchuk clinics fill up... about 4 days and 30 people later! :D

I would be very interested in this seminar if I can move my calendar around, being retired should help out, price sound right, wrenches would not be a problem, mig welder (no operator) maybe a list of essentials would be nice. I will fortify my commencement ASAP

Let me cut and paste this from my Soo clinic post!

* Things to bring: your M14, some basic tools, notebook, pens, digital camera, rags, ball peen hammer, punches, screwdrivers, more punches, TIG Welder, Service Truck (vise for rebarreling), fired brass for us to measure, plastic or rubber mallet, wood block or 2, Black and Decker Workmate (clamping ability for your barreled action or stock), masking tape, duct tape, Loctite (blue and red stuff), more to follow as I remember or remind myself. If you don't have these items, someone else will and I expect some overlap regarding the supply of tools! I will bring M14 specific tools for you all to play with!

If I can find it I'll bring my box of Princess Auto Roll Pins. I'll bring my fibreglass stock along too - it's only partly refinished but I need some guidance/assistance. I'll also bring my M14 ref books and my general tool kit.

Anyone heading up from Moncton? I can not attend but would pay the $40 if someone who is going could bring my gun. I should have my gun back from ottawa by then.

I know a guy with a Garand needing a barrel replacement, any chance of him and his M1being allowed in the group, considering the low numbers?

Garand barrel replacement? Sure thing. We did a few of them at the Edmonton clinic last Nov 2008! As long as we've got that 5" vise, I've got the jaw blocks and Navyshooter has the 1 3/4" wrench!

Hi Hungry I'm the "a guy" Mike mentioned that needs a new barrel for one of my Garands.
There's just one tiny problem with Mike's plan, I don't have a replacement barrel....
I could just come to the clinic and bring the rifle for comic relief, every time someone here in the Fredericton area has a look in the bore they just laugh and laugh

Filthy: YES come on board and play. Lots of stuff are similar to the Garand! Hope to see ya there. We can pull yer barrel off if you would like! Then you can send it to me for final barreling when you have the replacement barrel!
