OK. This sounds like fun and I think I can make it! Not sure I can make the hits but I can make it to the range!

If I had a vote I would go with 2 classes. Scopes have an advantage. How it is mounted isn't up to us but the owner. Or at least go with the 0.7 hit factor.

Should be fun. :)

Looking forward, Fudd!

This will definitely be a fun event.
We'll do the first heat all iron/scoped in one class. If the scopes prove a definite advantage we can decide to run another heat with separate classes.

First time for us to run a gong shoot.

Let's just remember the reason we are getting together is to have fun at the range with our favorite do-anything rifle.

BTW, another fellow, Thumperpaul, from another board will join us on Tuesday. I hope he joins CGN as well.

EasyR, I begged and begged but it came down to a hunting trip in the fall or this shoot. I think she is just being difficult, there is no good reason for her to say I can't go. But I guess this is 'compromising' :(

Anyway out of the guys I told only one is going for sure, he is not a CGN'er but he is a member at Poco.

And yes I have mine zeroed at 200m.

justins1877 come up and you can use mine.
Cuz you know the only thing I am good @ is making nosie!
:D

EasyRider604 was kind enough to send an invite already, thanks though Joey.
I would love to come and steal all your guy's 7.62 but I have prior engagments.
I'm going to try and duck out of it though. Sence I will not able to say a for sure yes or no, I will not be considered as an entry. If I can make it win or lose I don't want to collect 7.62 - but will donate to the pile. I wouldn't mine testing myself with a so called "inaccurate rifle, $100 peice of ####" ect..

That way I can draw my own conclusions about the SKS sporting rifle.

Klaus, there will be other shoots. We appreciate your valiant efforts to come and thank you for inviting your friend.

Justin, come when you can, perhaps you can make the second heat:)

And to all the other SKS fans still on the fence, come on let's smash Emmab's gongs.

BTW, sighted in my 56 Tula at 200 meters this afternoon.

Shot blank sheets of letter size bond paper, one of which you can check out tomorrow:D

But a bare black gong is a challenge to see, so I hope y'all got a good night's sleep.

See you at 4:40 p.m. Good shooting gentlemen!

I geuss being a painter has it's benifit's
:p
I will bring 2 cans of high vis spray bomb's.
See ya all up there!

I will bring 2 cans of high vis spray bomb's.

We have to spray after every shooter, but "ceasefire" is only every 20-30 minutes. That's 3 - 5 shooters between re-sprays.

So that every shooter will have the same plain dark gray/black gong to shoot at, better we leave the gongs in their natural color.

Could use the exercise though.

Thanks for putting on a great event Easyrider. This was my first time shooting an SKS. Thanks for letting me use yours. You had the sights right on to 200m. What a nice firearm to shoot. Love the price of the ammo.
The gongs were great thanks for making them emmab.
Thanks for the coffee and donuts Satain.
A really good turn out of Nuts. I believe there were 17 shooters in total.
After some initial problems with trying to see the hits on the gongs the event went off really well. I am kicking my self for not taking pictures of the gongs after a few rounds. They hung perfectly on an angle deflecting the shots down and I can see them lasting for a while. We bearely scratched the surface on them.
I look forward to doing this again.

Paul

Great Time, Great People

I would like to thank all the people that organized this fun event, they know who the are. The binos I won will come in handy for me trying to see the gong while scoring...sorry PMJ I am blind. Once again thanks again............

Just a quick post to say Thank You to all you SKS fans who came for the shoot, for your support and your help and cooperation in running the show. What an awesome bunch!

If ever there was a conventional shooting war, I will gladly serve beside you SKS nuts, as long as the Canadian Forces will allow us to carry our SKSs. No enemy will get closer than 200 meters:rockOn:

More tomorrow. Gotta clean Natalia (my 56 Tula) and rest my aching arms (from carrying Emmab's gongs - got them in the garage for safekeeping till the next).

BTW, I forgot to take pictures in the excitement, too bad.
But really, you gotta be there to feel it.
