How are the .260s selling?

The problem is these s/s rifles with synthetic stock are made to endure harsh weather so I think we’re out of luck...

416 stainless is rust resistant, but it does rust if left damp for any extended period of time.I have seen more than one stainless rifle with rust on the barrel or action.

Wish they'd bring back the .260 Rem in all the standard Rem 700 line, including the SPS.......................

We can only hope that they would drop the prices some more...

If Canada goes into a deep recession, you can expect 30-40% discount (form the retail and wholesale market) plus bankruptcy sales. You and many others may be out of a job at that point. I don’t wish to see that. :(

I have taken elk and moose with 100gr .257" bullets, but I was much more selective with the shots that I would take. It's all a matter of personal preference, and I now prefer at least a .284" bullet for my moose and elk hunting.

I have taken a couple of moose with my 6mm rem
Both dropped on the spot
Usually I use my 7mm rem but both those times I had the 6mm with me
I have read a 260 works best with faster twist (1 in 8 or 1 in 9 twist)
If i happened across a nice 260 I would buy it

They do some dumb things at Rem. They chamber it in the M7, but not in the 700. They have the reamer, why not use it, other than the 1 year limited edition SF?

Same as the .338WM, only comes in the XCR model. Why not take some of those barrels before applying the Trinyte, and use them for an SPS SS?

Another is the .280, only comes in the LSS MR...

Unless you reload where .308 brass can be used and is more than plentifull, it's probably not the best for you. I mean how much will you save on the initial rifle over a more common round? It's feeding the gun where the money is!

The 260 rifles are selling for about $500 less than the other chamberings. As far as feeding the gun, neither brass or bullets are overly expensive, and primers and powder are the same price as for other cartridges.

Hence, my initial comment about "unless you are reloading..."

$500.00 is quite significant. It would pay your initial investment in reloading equipment right there!

It would also pay for the difference in the cost of factory ammunition for many years for the average hunter.Checking some prices, the cost of Federal premiums is about the same for the 260 and the 270win.The cheapest 270 ammunition that I could find was $6 a box cheaper than the cheapest 260 ammunition.Given that $500 price difference on the gun,and $6 per box on the cheapest factory loads,a person could buy over 80 boxes of the cheapest 260 factory loads before matching the cost of a 270rifle using the same amount of the cheapest factory loads. Many hunters will never shoot anywhere near 80 boxes of ammunition in their life.

So what are you waiting for... Pick up that 260 Rem. and save a bundle. You didn’t do all that research for nothing.... Yeah I know, if it’s not 7 mm I don’t want it...

I seen on AR forum that it seems Sako is clearly out the 338 Federal also for $725 US - one dealer bought them all up supposedly

I saw the post,a great deal.I guess that the 338 Federal was an even slower seller than the 260.

I actually found a new unfired 85 stainless/laminate in 7mmremmag locally, for $1700 or offers including optiloc rings and bases, but the seller had a deal pending by the time that I called.I am going to wait a few days to see if the deal goes through before making a purchase, since I am supposedly the first on the waiting list.If the deal falls through,I will make an offer.
