How to buy a barrel tuner?

I think it’s up to the individual do enough testing to make their own conclusions as to if they work. I do know for a fact, some top shooters do use and adjust them during a match. One USA shooter was losing until he adjusted his, then he was on fire afterwards and won. I am on a forum that he is in and asked him if he adjusted it since it was not disclosed in the recorded video. I am not proficient at tuner adjustments yet.

I would welcome some education with this, please.
I know what the tuner does, I have two barrel tuners on my BR target airguns.

This barrel what I have is a 28" heavy, full length tapered in W308, not threaded.
Measuring 0.915" at the muzzle. Only marking on the barrel is an engraving "308 Obermeyer", the chamber has tighter specs I guess.

Anything exist off the shelf I shall be looking for, or the tuner would be custom built?
I am not educated enough to know how to search for it.
Not sure if I want an integrated muzzle brake, unless removable.
Google Que Industries tuner/muzzle brakes. - dan

Chewing this OP for several days already, have learned a lot how to search further with keywoards.
I am very surprised howcome nobody came up with a slip on clamp on gizmo yet for CF's without a need to take the barrel to a gunsmith for machining a thread.
Airguns have these, archery has these vibration dampeners ....

I have seen couple clamp on tuners, mostly made by US businesses, requiring to send them by barrel measurements and the lead time 8-10 weeks.
With that much effort and timing I can just visit my local CNC lathe shop and diy.

Remington 40x 40XB riflestocks used to have them built into the stocks
Mostly on single shot one’s
Basically adjustable by a big screw on each side of the forend of the stock
They apply pressure to the barrel
I have one or two extra one’s

The Martini International as well had bedding screws set into it, and if I am not mistaken, so did the 52 Winchester.

A tuner might help to get rid of some of that vertical. For a heavy 308 at 300m I wouldn't want to see much over 3/4 inch of vertical. The 308 Obermeyer refers to Obermeyer's version of a 308 match chamber. Variations are mostly in throat dimensions. Bill

The Remington stocks had screws for adjusting the amount of pressure on the bedding point of the barrel. Most guys I knew simply backed those screws off and shot free floated.

I believe that is different system than a "tuner" which is attached to the muzzle end of the barrel.

Tuners have been used successfully (and unsuccessfully) for many years in center fire benchrest. Because of recoil centerfire tuners usually are threaded to the barrel but not always. A few shooters on Benchrest Central were quite successful.

The thing is, with tuners, adjustments have to be made in small increments and the results recorded. There is a learning curve. Often, as with many things which are adjustable, the opportunity to screw something up is at least as great as the opportunity to produce positive results. Ideally, a load is developed, then the tuner is used to keep the rifle "in tune". The tuner won't fix a bad shooting rifle, but it may improve a pretty good one. Bill

When you look at that group, you see seven very good shots but three shots low. Without those three shots, vertical is nonexistent. It is telling that those three shots are consecutive. Bill.

I have a Harrell Tuner - clamp on style, yes they are made, but not easy to find now and at times ... they are great for rimfire and air guns ... this one is for a Heavy Barrel and made for .915 diameter heavy barrels.

They have very accurate small audible- click adjustment, and easy to use .... you mount it with the Tuner adjusted to 0 ... Allen key tightening.

When you shoot groups, just move it increments counter-clockwise at a time > follow the numerals; until you find your tighest group - with your air gun setting or rimfire ammo.

It will fit a .915 heavy barrel perfect! That's what this one was made for. It tightens up snugs up Allen screws ...

PM me if you want it - I have no longer use for it - I do not have a current .915 barreled rifle. It's in minty excellent condition. You can Google further instructions on how to use. But it's easy.

I do still use a screw-on Cortina Tuner on my Bergara BMR .22 - they are great tuners but upwards of 400.00 or so/with adapter. Dominion Outdoors used to sell them, but no longer due to the recent USA importing BS.

Also Freedom Adventures is another Tuner store ...

Yes, I would like to get it. We will talk in pm.

I have something similar on my PCP airgun I am shooting 100 meters BR rings. This my one-piece rest, also a tuning/maintenance vice.
It is a "glued in = bonded" integrated with a carbon fiber shroud, also has an internal air stripper. Also an engraved dial ring.
With some effort I can remove it from a tube, I will do it anyway because sold my longer x700 barrel and currently have a x600 installed and I will need to cut off 100 mm from the CF tube.
