I know primers are hard to find right now, but are people really this desperate?

I was shocked to see what they were going for on the I-collector auction this weekend. Last week I could buy from a store at half that price.... ( was $120 / 1k.....auction was over $240...)

I don't want to feed the frenzy but.. I want to have a the ability to keep reloading. But when they ration at the stores... feels like WWII.... here is your sugar......My Grandpa warned me about that....

hope people calm down a bit..... it effects us all.

Just saw 800 LR primers listed on "the other site" for $600 [= $750 / 1,000]

My money's on [of course anyone who knows me knows I do not gamble, PERIOD] seeing $1,000.00 per 1,000 by summer.

Ever heard of the Dutch Tulip mania of 1634-37. See Wikipedia (LINK):

'By 1635, a sale of 40 bulbs for 100,000 florins (also known as Dutch guilders) was recorded. By way of comparison, a "tun" (930 kg or 2,050 lb) of butter cost around 100 florins, a skilled laborer might earn 150–350 florins a year, and "eight fat swine" cost 240 florins.'

Wouldn't it be funny if Rick and Marty Lagina finally found the money pit and discovered that it contained ... 20 tulip bulbs buried there in 1637 by the Knight Templar?

those prices are crazy. I have a little stockpile that should do me for a few years but with prices like that I may be persuaded to sell a few, I have found myself with a bit of a glut of SR / SP, I even went and dug out all the 45ACP brass I have that is SP.

One would think that to be inevitable? People with $3 or $4 per hundred primers would be very tempted to sell the same at $75 or more!!! Except where are you going to get re-supply? - become a Buyer in that same market. Or quit shooting. $500 or $50,000 tied up in guns and scopes, brass, bullets and powder - and other goodies, and no ammo - hardly makes sense ...

You'd think that when supply comes back prices would go back to (the new) normal but when will this be? 2023, 2024??
What will the new normal be, who knows.

Primers used to cost roughly half of average 22lr ammo and that makes sense as a 22lr round would cost more to produce.
I have sold off a few thousand primers in the last few months and still have more than I'd need in the next couple years but I'm hesitant to sell more as the replacement cost down the line is the great unknown.

Lol why would you think suppy will ever come back? We are being completely disarmed as a population and already a couple years into world war 3 with the fighting barely even started yet, it will be a decade or more before it ends unless it ends in a nuclear Holocaust, either way the sky is the limit for whatever is left in public hands!

I hope you are wrong.

That is exactly why I am hesitant to sell any. I remember the last primer shortage, I was desperate for some SRP and ended up paying $68/1000 and was unhappy. when the stocks came in and prices dropped to the $40 range I stocked up a few thousand and have kept my stock pile up I like to have between 6-10 thousand primers on hand, not a huge hoard but enough to do me for a few years. I have not bought any primers recently and the last brick I bought was to top up my stock of LRP, paid around $60 for it just before things got crazy.

If I sell a few now, when or how will I restock is the big question.

I'm curious to see ware dem deenayrow izz placed awn these wee peskie kritters at the Kamlewps Ker-Pow Show cumm'in up.
Even think'in tew-bits a round izz ahhpawll'in.

Heaven'elp us.

Really glad I bought a brick of large pistol magnums for $100, they'll keep me plinking with reduced loads and black powder for a while. I'm afraid to load any large rifle primers until I know I can replace them. Crazy times we live in.

I will trade but I will not sell anymore reloading components regardless of the potential profits. I thought I was helping a guy out a few months ago who claimed to not have the finances to continue shooting at the current prices. I sold him 2000 CCI 250's for $120. A few days later he had them up for $500 each !!! That was the last time I will help anyone out.

I'd be SERIOUSLY PISSED about that. :(

I had a guy sell me a brick of LR primers for a very good price because I actually needed them and it would never occur to me to turn around and try to make a profit off of someone else's kindness.

What a douche... hope there is some karma for his greed.
