I've had this pistol for about a week now, a few times to the club, almost 300 rounds shot. I shot a bunch of Federal 36g cj hp from a bulk box and 100 CCI Blazers with 100% reliability. I've noticed my groupings getting a little better, as I'm a beginner. I don't really think I should waste my $ on 9mm and 45acp when I'm just learning. Also the added recoil may hinder my development.

I found a video on youtube on how to field strip, after doing it a couple times it's a piece of cake. I cleaned it after almost 300 rounds but it wasn't that dirty. I shot about 150 Wolf lead round nose in my CZ75b and it was absolutely filthy!!!

I'm very pleased with my GSG, I haven't come across any bad reviews at all. Pretty well everyone says it's a great gun and I concur. I hated shooting the Ruger target pistols for my safety training at the gun club, they were ill-fitting and I just though they felt like bb-guns. This GSG has a great feel and you can hear and feel the high velocity ammo that it loves.

So I just think I'm going to shoot a lot of lead with my 22 then when I get proficient at target shooting I'll move back up to my 9mm and 45acp. I think it is a great buy at $379. Lots of fun. Here's a pic of it when I first opened it up...

Badger Arms. Free shipping, even got a deal on the 2nd mag. Very pleased with the customer service from badger, workmanship and quality of the pistol, price and the cheap practice. Can't go wrong. Even the wood grips feel comfortable, I thought they wouldn't be. Nice basic 3 dot sights, trigger pull is short, etc. If there's one negative about it, maybe the grip safety, but I'm not against something that makes it safer to use. I've read that people have put Hyper Velocity and MiniMags through it as well. It says that standard and high velocity is recommended, so I doubt the subsonics will cycle properly. Anyone put the heavy duty ammo through this?

The safety will probably wear in to the point that you will not notice it.

Hey st,

I agree wholeheartedly with what you say about practicing lots with a .22 pistol. This is the way to get good!!!

GSG 1911 .22lr....

They are a nice pistol for the money. I have ~ 2K rounds thru mine so far.

With the highest front site installed and the rear site adjusted so the sites are on the point of aim I am very happy with what mine can do with econo American Eagle 40 gr solid point hi-vel ammo:

NAA.

I'm sure someone will buy it off you, if it fits the non-tactical model. I really have no use for a fake silencer. It will just attract attention at the club. I like the original version.

Velocitor ammo a couple posts up. How did it perform? How about MiniMags? Interested in trying these.

Which, IMO, is why you always start off with a .22 - there is no better way to introduce someone to pistol shooting than with a .22 auto. The only thing that sucks is loading the mags. ;)

Sic & BMAC,
I got them of e-bay, Their rosewood from thailand, 1911 single stack
35.00 with free shipping, had to do a little mod by making the notch on the right grip longer for the ambi safety on the GSG, took a whole 5mins

It looks like they're now C $24.85 with free shipping. That's a pretty good deal.

Edit: Oops, was looking at the wrong one. The wrap around rosewood Thai grips are US $39.88. Not sure which I like better...
