IDF M14 parts kits picture thread!

My kit!
Only thing that I would like better is to have the stock matching the parts, other than that pretty cool! Anybody able to tell the make of receiver stub from the marks? Wish the back part was included, but we can thank the horsemen for that.

The 7790189 is the drawing # for the receiver, all standard GI receivers from all 4 manufactures had this same #. The SJ or any other letter afterwards is a heat lot code.

Another + 1 for Vulcan Gun heel engraving, I filled this one in lightly with nail polish, love how it looks!

Here is the completed rifle, it is not one of the wolverine parts kits, but is an all Winchester Build

Missed the Postie on Friday and the pick up point was supposed to have it by 1pm Saturday. However apparently they either do not deliver or just didn't deliver so I couldn't pick up on Sunday. Apparently I can pick it up after work today... Getting excited to see what it will bring :)

Looks like Winn rear sight, but too tired to clean off the oil and really look over.
Stock looks like it fought the Yom Kipper war, and spent 10 yeas in Palestine!
Look forward to picking up the Norc donor and throwing it together:)

Here's a side note.....

Just finished pulling apart a LB parts kit (customer supplied) this will be the last one I do before taking a week off in mexico...

As I was disassembling the the kit to toss it in the parts washer I noticed right away 3 things.....

1- the FH was bored out to NM specs. This was a "shocker" for me. I assumed, as an issue military weapon, the flash hider would remain as a useable FH, for obviuis reasons. NM conditioning a FH, would keep the look but not the function of the FH.

2- the barrel gas system keyways have been peeled over, the gas system was TIGHT! And there was a .028" shim between the barrel band and the barrel shoulder. Another first for these IDF kits!

3- the Troat erosion on the TRW barrel was under .5 on a 0-10 scale. Judging by the look of the gas port and other "wear" areas on this barrel, I bet it has seen under 500 rounds. I wouldn't be surprised if its seen less than 100.....

I am a little surprised at the "lack" of wear. I am also surprised as the electro penciled #s do not match on this kit. Not a single one! And the parts are a mixed bag! TRW bbl, Win bolt, H&R trigger and a SA op-rod..... a real mixed up mixed bag!

My mind wandering...... but I wonder if this was some IDF armorers pet project back in the mid '80s....

Well my parts are at the post office, and I still haven't been able to find a donor receiver.... I'm assuming the m1 receivers I have in the back of the cabinet are useless to me here.

I'm probably going to have to sell my blackfeather build just to keep the shop lights on next month let alone get my parts kit assembled. Hey medic, what do you figure an '07 norc in a blackfeather chasis would be worth these days? Is 1600 too much to ask?

I wouldn't pay near that for an m305 IMHO, used blackfeather chassis maybe 500-550 shipped and a used m305 another 500-550 shipped if its a real nice one maybe 600 to 650 and the buyer would likely want a deal if taking it all. Try your luck tho it can't hurt.

I would have to agree with Crewe on this one.

I would probably ask a bit of a premium for a '07 that was functional in a chi-com stock. The BF is likely only worth $600 shipped with a BF buttstock..... probably $450-500 with just the chassis.

So a HB kit would fit my 5 screw EBR chassis?

I believe it will.

To be fair it's more than just a stock setup...would be sending fab furniture, casm mount, custom brake, dlask lock, etc. But at any rate, a bit off topic. Please continue..hehe I'm drooling over these pictures! Keep em coming!
