Can someone point me to the CDP "rule book"? I can't find a post that lists it anywhere. I was under the impression that CDP followed the IDPA rules (other than the barrel length issue). If we are not following the IDPA rules then I would like to know what I am shooting.

No answers yet , someone out there must have this info...........

As was explained before, CDP was based on IDPA rules and was the first 'bloody stab' at building some kind of National IDPA program.

I can't speak for every CDP club but the MDPL is relying on the IDPA rulebook for our matches.

Seems to get the job done!

And I don't have a problem with that. Nice to know we are not making up rules just to be different. Remember back when Quebec was making new French terms for "home run", "fly ball", etc. Bloody stupid.

So what you are saying is you are shooting IDPA, and calling it CDP, assuming you are following all the rules.

Well at least you are honest.

Actually we don't follow all the rules (and have discussed some new ones) but for the most part the structure is acceptable.

ya, Greg Moser at Lambton is the IDPA guy there, and it IS an IDPA sanctioned club in Ontario
He does a great job there , with Jim, and the rest of the group. I have shot there many times, and always was treated well.
He shoots at Kent Cloverleaf for our winter leagues as well- no IDPA affiliation, but we do go by the IDPA rulebook, and we have a TON of fun

Oh sure one of the rare birds. Aren't we supposed to whine about the rule changes on 2005, complain about the Uncle Mikes holster and the fact your old IDPA mag holders may not be legal now.

Here I thought we were here to complain about the latest decision to prevent us from winning a $5.00 Medal and 10 Cent Certificate.

bclinehand that post gets you two procedurals and a rarely imposed FTDR.

That's 2, I say 2, penalties in one.

Nope it tells you they don't have to know about these sports.
C-68 controls firearms it doesn't control the shooting sporting activities. Not in their mandate. I would have thought most would have figured that out on their own. Hopefully it stays that way. One never knows with our hand held mentality we have in this country.

The real morons are the folks who want the government to mandate requirements to enter the active shooting sports.

Bob Funny thing is they issue the ATT's and aprove the Ranges

Yes but they don't ask you what you are going to shoot at the ranges just that you are a member of a gun club and you are goin g"target shooting". That is all they ask of us here in B.C, and my sons tell the same in Alberta.

As to approving the ranges their interest lies in whether or not the bullets will be contained and the range is safely designed within the criteria they set.

They certainly don't have to be conversant with PPC, IPSC or IDPA to follow the rules set out in C 68.

Dragoon are you still barring certian members from IPSC Alberta to join your ATHL

I heard that too. Now, that's what I call "promoting the sport":runaway: .

....and Burke charges $150.00 for CDP training (which doesn't include membership, etc)....

.....and in IDPA there is no charge for training.....

I guess It doesn't really matter... after all, your training is free only to those you choose.

Or you can join the Alberta Tactical Handgun League (an IDPA affiliated club - http://www.idpa.com/clublist.asp?Country=Canada) for $100.00 (which includes IDPA membership) and get your training for FREE!!!!!!.....from Canada's first IDPA 5 gun classified shooter. (http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=157364)

.....go to http://www.athl.org/ (or PM me) for more info.

That's awesome... you pay $100 and have the opportunity NOT to take the FREE training and be barred from the matches as well.
