Basically, if you're looking for a hobby-grade rifle that won't be used hard, the Norinco is probably "good enough" while costing much less than the low-end US rifles. Conversely, you can spend a bit more and get an objectively much better rifle in terms of things like the following:
-Bolt and barrel materials
-Proof testing and magnetic particle inspection
-Correct assembly (staking, gas port size, buffer type, etc.)

Dpms. Under $900. You get a simple red dot or scope with that couple hundred you save.
There is always going to be a reason to buy the $1000 riflr....or the $1200....well then theres the $1400 rifle.
On and On it goes. Start with something half decent. A good price and you will have a bit left over for accessories.

Don't listen to this guy.
I have owned a DD and core15 and also handled a windham weaponry.
They are all in the same level in terms of quality.
Only thing DD is good for is their quad rails. The reason why DD is more expensive is because they have the quad rail.. Which cost around $300.
There is a sponsor that have the plain DD upper in stock for $699 ( the one without quad rail and just the plain plastic handguard) hence my point that DD is expensive because of their
Quad rail.

Man if one more person says norinco I may quit CGN.
I bought a Hi-point 40 once and tried convincing myself it was a good gun. Sold it and went Colt Delta Elite. Crap guns are not welcome here anymore. Norc has its place but not at my house. Except that 1887, which I just sold to fund an AR lol.
