Is the benelli m4 still "the" shotgun to get?

It will only cycle super rapid target loads and high quality slugs. I have a couple hundred at least through it and it still stalls out on anything but the best loads.

That sounds messed up, have you checked your pistons and O-rings?

The m2 is Miles bettre then the versamax, that's a fact.
Even a versamax built by tac ord is . Still no M2.
If it were not for the fact you can run 7rs in the versamax. Most 3 gunners in canada would run an M2.

So why aren’t most 3 gunners in Canada running the SBE then? Same 3.5” capacity as the VM.

Because most 3 gunners in Canada don't know any better nor will they shoot enough to see the benefit of one platform vs another.
They buy what their friends buy and assume its the way to go.

Just as an fyi, the one extra shell isn't worth much in the real world.

We had a L3 IPSC shotgun match here in Ontario this summer, of the top 10 competitors in semi division, 7 used the M2, 1 vmax, 1 stoeger m3k, the last I don't have the data.

Man, that would be fun. So no one ran an SBE? Was there a capacity limit for stage starts?

Can't say for sure if anyone ran a SBE.
The couple guys I know that use one were not there.

Capacity is limited by IPSC division rules or Canadian law, whichever is reached first.
For Standard(semi) division, start capacity is 9 shells.
If you can legally get 9 in the gun at the start, then you are good to go.

One would think a 3.5" chamber would rule because you can get 9 in at the start...actual results say otherwise.

As for shooting a L3, keep an eye out in the action shooting forum.
Sept 2019 will have a big L3 in Ontario. Just finalizing details before its announced.

I used to think so until I saw two of them break down in the span of 48 hours at a shotgun course...

I had one for a while and it was ok, but nothing crazy. I think I’m more of a pump gun guy anyway

wow im curious why they "broke down"as the article by shot gun armorer in Afghanistan said no manufacturer caused break downs on m4 ??just wondering what happened--have 2 -like a rock

Another TA Versa Max fan and owner.

However, if your mind is set on the M4, Casey at TA does a nice job of tuning them up as well.

I am thinking maybe the gas ports in the barrel are not big enough. I have heard of this issue before and people got it fix by sending it yo benelli. I was hoping it wasnt broke in but i dont think so any more.

I've heard from a military M4 armorer that the biggest weakness of the design is the O rings getting chewed upon disassembly, mostly by being carelessly dragged across the threads.

I would have never really thought of that myself, have you had it apart?
